Mobile Film Office The Mobile Film Office is a full-time office and department of the City of Mobile.

The purpose of the Film Office is to act as a liaison between the film industry, the government and the community in order to facilitate on-location production in the Mobile area by educating, informing, setting standards of professionalism, and serving as a clearinghouse for location production information.

Remembering one of our Mobile Film Family Members: It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Teddy Lee, a longtime member of Mobile’s film Family and creative community. Teddy was part of an important chapter in Mobile’s film history, working on films such as The Final Sanction, Invasion Force, Raw Nerve, and Firehead during what is known as the David A. Prior years. During his time in the film industry he had the opportunity to also work on The Adventures of Huck Finn and Under Siege. He brought his talent, dedication, and experience to every production. He became a familiar face among the many people who make up Mobile’s creative community. Those who knew Teddy will remember not only working with him, but the person he was and the mark he left on the people and community around him. A Celebration of Life will be held September 1st at 6:00 PM at Mama’s. Friends, colleagues, and members of the creative community are welcome to come together, share memories, and celebrate Teddy’s life. Rest easy, Teddy. Thank you for the work, the memories, and the part you played in Mobile’s creative story. Please leave a comment below of any memory you have from your time working with Teddy on set.

From our Community to your screen: Local filmmaker Glen Perry just dropped his documentary film " Creole Fire Number 1 - Mobile's First Brotherhood". His documentary preserves the voices, memories, and legacy of the Creole firefighters who answered the call while fighting for dignity, opportunity, and recognition. Established in 1819, Creole Fire Company No. 1 provided Mobile with its earliest organized fire protection. It began as a volunteer company, joined the city’s paid fire department in 1888, and remained segregated from the rest of the Mobile Fire Department until integration in 1970. Through firsthand accounts from firefighters and their descendants, this film explores a tradition passed from fathers and uncles to sons, nephews, and younger generations. They recall the dangers of the job, the discrimination they endured, the opportunities they fought to earn, and the extraordinary bond that made Creole No. 1 more than a fire company.

Local Film Big Impact: "UnSteady" premiered last night to a sold-out crowd at the Crescent Theater. Tonight it will have its final regular screening before it heads off on its film festival run. But what makes this film special is the message it is showcasing about mental health and drug addiction, as well as the fact that University of South Alabama sophomore and MFO Shadow Program student Jesse Starling produced, wrote, directed, edited, and starred in the film. This was his first attempt at making a full-length feature film, and from the audience's reaction last night, he succeeded in every way thanks to his incredible cast, crew, and community support. A project just doesn't get made; it is built by the people in the community coming together to support it. Below is a little highlight of all the people and places it touched on its journey from idea to showing on the big screen.
