The Mobile County Law Enforcement Association (MCLEA) is proud to formally announce our

unanimous endorsement of Sheriff Paul Burch for re-election as Sheriff of Mobile County.

Following meetings with both Sheriff Burch and his opponent in the upcoming election, our

Board carefully considered the qualifications, leadership, and vision presented by each candidate.

After thorough evaluation, the Board voted unanimously in support of Sheriff Burch.

This endorsement is grounded in Sheriff Burch’s proven leadership, unwavering work ethic, and

steadfast dedication to the citizens of Mobile County. Throughout his tenure, he has consistently

demonstrated a commitment to public safety, accountability, and professional excellence.
His ability to lead effectively in complex and challenging situations has earned the respect of both his peers and the community he serves.

Equally important is Sheriff Burch’s continued effort to foster strong working relationships with

law enforcement agencies across Mobile County. His collaborative approach has strengthened

interagency cooperation, improved operational effectiveness, and enhanced the overall safety and

security of our communities.

Sheriff Burch’s tireless service and forward-thinking leadership make him the clear choice to

continue serving as Sheriff. The MCLEA is confident that his experience, integrity, and

commitment will ensure continued progress for the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the

citizens it protects.

We are proud to stand behind Sheriff Paul Burch and respectfully encourage the citizens of

Mobile County to support his re-election.

Clarification on Law Enforcement Endorsements in the Mayoral Race

There has been some public confusion regarding recent claims that the Mobile Police Department has officially endorsed Barbara Drummond for mayor, and that both the police and sheriff’s departments have endorsed Spiro. It’s important to clarify the facts:

The Mobile Police Department (MPD) has a clear policy prohibiting the department from endorsing any political candidate. Any implication that the MPD has made an official endorsement is false.

The Mobile County Law Enforcement Association (MCLEA) is an independent organization composed of law enforcement officers from across Mobile County. This includes members from the MPD, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, and nearly every other law enforcement agency in the county. However, MCLEA operates separately from these departments and any endorsements made by MCLEA are not official endorsements from the departments themselves.

Additionally, the recent segment aired by WPMI featuring four officers endorsing Barbara Drummond. These officers were speaking on their own behalf—not on behalf of the Mobile Police Department based on policies and not for MCLEA, or any other official agency.

It is crucial that voters understand the difference between individual endorsements and official departmental endorsements, especially given that many public safety agencies are bound by policies that prohibit political involvement.

The MCLEA Board had the privilege of meeting with Candidate Spiro to hear his vision for the future of the City of Mobile—and, most importantly, the Mobile Police Department. Following this discussion, the Board unanimously voted to endorse Spiro for Mayor of Mobile.
