Today we celebrated the 236th birthday of the United States Coast Guard. We were honored to have Navy League Mobile Council VP, CDR Brian Campbell as a special guest and a member of the official party. CAPT Joe Snowden was also in attendance.

The USNS William McLean (T-AKE-12) made history by winning the Presidential Unit Citation (PUC), one of the highest unit awards in the U.S. military.The civilian-crewed auxiliary vessel earned the award for extraordinary heroism and providing critical logistics support to the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group during Operation Epic Fury. This milestone marks the first time in the 77-year history of the Military Sealift Command (MSC) that its ships have received this citation.
