SEPTEMBER FFOM/LIFESAVING AWARDS:
The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department proudly recognizes Firemedic Driver Justin Morris as the September 2026 Firefighter of the Month!
On September 23rd, an off-duty Firemedic Morris was playing tennis at the Mobile Tennis Center as a part of USTA league matches, when bystanders witnessed an approximately 61-year old man collapse on the courts. Firemedic Morris rushed over and, after a quick assessment, discovered that the man was suffering a head injury from hitting the ground. After the bleeding was controlled and the wound covered, the man fell into sudden cardiac arrest.
Morris used his training and years of experience to activate the chain of survival and initiate CPR. By the time MFRD responders on Engine 18 and Rescue 1 arrived to assume medical care, the patient was conscious and communicating.
Unfortunately, he slipped back into cardiac arrest 3 more times on the way to the hospital. Emergency prehospital interventions were provided, and a pulse was detected after each arrest. After extensive, hospital interventions and time in the intensive care unit, the patient was discharged from the hospital, alive, well, and excited for life.
For his actions above and beyond the normal call of duty, Mobile Fire-Rescue proudly recognizes Firemedic Driver Justin Morris as the September Firefighter of the Month. For their role in the chain of survival and life saving efforts in a prehospital setting, the MFRD proudly presents Lifesaving Awards to:
