Today, my office announced that a Mobile County Grand Jury returned an additional three-count indictment against former Mobile County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Daniel Holifield, charging him with Theft of Property First Degree by Deception.

These charges are separate from the 13-count indictment previously returned against Holifield in August 2025. As with any criminal case, the indictment reflects the Grand Jury's determination that sufficient evidence exists for the case to move forward through the judicial process.

When someone is entrusted with serving the public, that position carries a responsibility to uphold the law and act with integrity. Allegations that a public servant used that position for personal gain strike at the heart of the trust our community places in its institutions.

My office will continue to follow the evidence wherever it leads and seek accountability for any criminal conduct uncovered. No one is above the law, regardless of position or title.

Holifield is expected to be arraigned in Mobile County Circuit Court in the coming weeks.

Darius Lucky has been sentenced to two Life Without the Possibility of Parole sentences following his convictions for the Capital Murder of 9-year-old Cailee Knight.

A Mobile County jury previously found Lucky guilty in the December 2023 shooting that claimed Cailee’s life while she was asleep inside her home.

“Cailee Knight should still be here today. She should have had the chance to grow up, chase her dreams, and live the life that was stolen from her by Darius Lucky’s senseless act of violence.” — District Attorney Keith Blackwood

Today, we joined law enforcement agencies from across Mobile County to honor and remember the brave officers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year.

These men and women made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities and to the people they swore to protect. Their courage, dedication, and commitment to public safety will never be forgotten.

The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office remains grateful for the sacrifices made every day by law enforcement officers and stands with the families, friends, and fellow officers carrying the weight of those losses.

Nyyon Sanders has been sentenced to life in prison following his conviction for the 2022 murder of D’Angelo Wallace.

Evidence presented at trial showed Sanders shot Wallace at close range before attempting to conceal the crime and destroy evidence.

District Attorney Keith Blackwood: “This was a cold and deliberate killing, followed by an attempt to hide the truth. Today's sentence sends a clear message that calculated acts of violence will be met with serious consequences in Mobile County.”

The State of Alabama was represented by Assistant District Attorney Stuart Lang, Trial Coordinator Carla Nealy, and Victim Service Officer Leigha Arthur.

Sanders is also awaiting trial on a separate Capital Murder charge for an offense allegedly committed while out on bond in this case.

A Mobile County jury has found Joseph Timmons guilty of Murder and Robbery First Degree in the 2022 killing of Triston Bohannon.

After nearly two days of deliberations, jurors returned guilty verdicts holding Timmons accountable for his role in setting the robbery and murder in motion.

District Attorney Keith Blackwood stated:

Joseph Timmons helped set this crime in motion by luring Triston Bohannon to that park, fully aware of what was planned. He is every bit as responsible for Triston’s murder as Tre’Vion Collins-Smiley who pulled the trigger. This week’s verdict makes clear that everyone involved in taking a life will be held accountable.

Moses Richardson has been sentenced to 65 years in prison following his conviction for Murder, announced District Attorney Keith Blackwood.

A Mobile County jury returned a guilty verdict on February 4, 2026, after hearing evidence that Richardson fatally shot Destiny Watson during a confrontation at a gas station on St. Stephens Road in February 2023.

Today, Judge Brooks sentenced Richardson to 65 years in prison.

“We are pleased with the sentence imposed in this case, said District Attorney Keith Blackwood. “This was a senseless act of violence that took the life of Destiny Watson and forever impacted the people who loved her.”

The State was represented by Assistant District Attorney Coy Morgan, Trial Coordinator Kristine Henderson and Victim Service Officer Leigha Arthur.
