Curious about the snakes you might see around your home or in the outdoors? Join Alabama Cooperative Extension to learn all about Alabamaโ€™s native snakes! This program will cover snake identification, conservation, and how to be โ€œsnake-smartโ€ around your home.

Alabama livestock and pet owners should be on the lookout for a new pest. Last month, the Asian longhorned tick was detected for the first time in the state on a dog in DeKalb County. While several other tick species are common in Alabama, the reproductive capabilities of this tick create an enhanced health concern for animals.

Coming Soon! On Tuesday, June 9th from 9 AM-1 PM, we are going to Oak Hill Tree Farm to pick blueberries and tour the tree farm and then down the street to Fort Hatchett Farms to spend some time in the great outdoors having a picnic and going on a scavenger hunt through the woods and making nature journals. The cost is $10. We will meet at Oak Hill Tree Farm at 9:00 AM. We will tour the tree farm, blueberry farm, and wildflower U-pick. You will get to pick a quart of blueberries to take home. The address is 7250 Grand Bay Wilmer Rd. South Grand Bay, AL 36541. We will then travel a mile down the road to Fort Hatchett Farms, 6850 Grand Bay Wilmer Rd. S. Grand Bay, AL 36541 for a picnic (lunch provided) and some outdoor forestry & wildlife activities until 1 PM. The cost is $10 which includes your blueberries and lunch. We are limited to 25 spots so the first 25 4-Hers to sign up and pay will get to go!๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ€
