The purpose of the Mobile County Environmental Enforcement Facebook is to promote and provide community awareness against littering. We hope our Facebook postings will encourage you to share the information concerning anti-litter laws, the Mobile County Junk Control Ordinance and to promote our upcoming Operat

ion Clean Sweep & Recycle events. Operation Clean Sweep is a county wide program that encourages all Mobile County residents to work together, from picking up litter on the side of the road to removing junk out of homeowners’ yards. Environmental Enforcement will provide a central location where you and your neighbors may dispose of your unwanted items for free. Our priority is to “Put Litter in Its Place”. If you have concerns about a possible violation or would like to volunteer, please call us at the department. 251-574-7867 (STOP)

Due to a power outage, the Mobile County Recycling Center is temporarily closed.

Crews are working to restore power and bring the facility back online. Thank you for your patience. A notice will be posted when normal operations resume.

Summer Burn Ban Reminder! From March to October, burning yard waste and debris is banned in Mobile County to protect air quality and reduce harmful ozone and fine particles, as outlined by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). This seasonal burn ban is not the same as drought-related burn bans — it’s about keeping our air clean and our community healthy.

🚫 What’s banned?
Burning wood, brush, yard debris.
Burning construction or land-clearing waste.

✅ Better alternatives:
Compost yard waste.
Use leaves and clippings as mulch to enrich your garden and save water.

Due to today’s weather, all Mobile County Commission offices and parks will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Mobile County parks will be open on the Juneteenth holiday, as will the Historic Avenue Cultural Center.

All Mobile County Commission offices will return to normal operations after the Juneteenth holiday. The Mobile County Animal Shelter will be open Saturday, June 20, for regular business hours.

It's National Waste and Recycling Workers Week, a time to recognize the essential crews who keep our community clean. The Mobile County Commission extends its gratitude to the hardworking team at the Mobile County Recycling Center, the backbone of the Commission's recycling initiatives.

The Commission also commends its Environmental Enforcement team. Through eight Operation Clean Sweep events, this team diligently collects tons of tires, metal, and electronics for recycling, along with rubbish for proper disposal, significantly contributing to a cleaner county.

The dedication and efforts of these vital crews are instrumental in making Mobile County a better place for all residents.
