The purpose of the Mobile County Environmental Enforcement Facebook is to promote and provide community awareness against littering. We hope our Facebook postings will encourage you to share the information concerning anti-litter laws, the Mobile County Junk Control Ordinance and to promote our upcoming Operat

ion Clean Sweep & Recycle events. Operation Clean Sweep is a county wide program that encourages all Mobile County residents to work together, from picking up litter on the side of the road to removing junk out of homeowners’ yards. Environmental Enforcement will provide a central location where you and your neighbors may dispose of your unwanted items for free. Our priority is to “Put Litter in Its Place”. If you have concerns about a possible violation or would like to volunteer, please call us at the department. 251-574-7867 (STOP)

Today is Global Recycling Day! The Mobile County Recycling Center, located on Hitt Road, takes most recycled items. We can all do our part to be good stewards of our local, natural resources. Think about all the items you discard (don't forget the pizza boxes!) and discover ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Our environment depends on each of us doing our part. Visit https://mobilerecycles.com/ for more info.

Check out the new glass pulverizer at the Mobile County Recycling Center.

Funded by a $200,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), the equipment can process 500,000 pounds of glass each year, turning old bottles into safe, smooth sand for use in Mobile County projects.

The best part? No more color sorting. Residents can now drop off clear, green, and amber glass in a single bin. It's the only free glass recycling in Mobile County.

The recycling center is owned by the Mobile County Commission and operated by Goodwill Gulf Coast.

Bring your bottles to 7450 Hitt Road to help Mobile County keep glass out of the landfill.

What do you do with all those dead leaves covering your yard? Here are some tips to maintain a manicured lawn while keeping our waterways cleaner and healthier for generations to come:
1. Never dump yard waste of any kind into any waterway or storm drain.
2. Do not blow (or sweep) leaves, grass clippings or any yard debris onto nearby sidewalks, streets, driveways or parking lots.
3. Bag leaves, sticks and other waste to avoid the debris flowing into and clogging nearby storm drains.
4. Ensure that any storm drain located near your home or business remains free of any debris blocking the entry.
