United Way of Southwest Alabama

United Way of Southwest Alabama Where there’s a community need, there’s the United Way. Join us in taking action so all can thrive.

From advancing health and education to strengthening livelihoods and local resilience, we connect people to possibility in Southwest Alabama. United Way of Southwest Alabama builds community and advances the common good by bringing individuals and business together to help our neighbors in need. By pooling our resources and working together, we pave the way for real, tangible change. This gives us

the ability to create opportunities for our youth, build healthy communities and generate financial security for individuals that lead to a more resilient Southwest Alabama. There’s power in numbers, which means we accomplish much more when we are UNITED. Our way — the United Way — is more powerful than any one entity or individual alone. By partnering with us to volunteer or financially invest in our community, you’re a part of something bigger than yourself, fulfilling your own life and the lives of others.

Throwback to October 2, 1960, when the Mobile United Fund campaign took center stage in The Mobile Press-Register.

An editorial cartoon titled “Another Winning Team for Mobile” highlighted campaign chairman R.E. Pride leading the charge toward a fundraising goal of $1,263,085, rallying the community to step up and “come out for the team.” The coverage also featured Brookley Air Force Base’s major campaign support, United Fund Sunday sermons across Mobile churches, and community-wide efforts driving one of the most coordinated fundraising campaigns of its time.

From church pews to factory floors to downtown storefronts, this moment reflects a powerful community tradition of coming together to support local needs across Mobile.

As we continue this month's Partner Agency Spotlight series, we are proud to highlight the Epilepsy Foundation Alabama.

For more than 50 years, the Epilepsy Foundation has worked to improve the lives of people affected by epilepsy through education, advocacy, research, and connection. Through its programs and services, the organization helps individuals and families access support, promotes awareness and understanding of epilepsy, and advocates for policies that improve quality of life for those living with seizure disorders.

The impact of this work was on full display during the recent Walk to End Epilepsy at Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile. Community members, advocates, sponsors, and supporters came together to raise more than $43,000 to support programs, resources, and services for people affected by epilepsy.

United Way of Southwest Alabama is proud to partner with organizations like the Epilepsy Foundation of Alabama that are creating a stronger, healthier community through education, support, and advocacy.
