A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for central and northeastern SD through west central MN until 8pm CDT this evening. Isolated (potentially dry) thunderstorms may produce gusty and erratic winds over portions of central South Dakota early this evening (~6 PM to 9 PM CDT). Any thunderstorm has the potential to produce wind gusts of 40 to 55 mph. Shifting wind directions and changing speeds will be a concern for any ongoing fires!

ATTN: Akaska residents. It has been brought to my attention that the storm siren was not heard in Akaska yesterday. We will retest that siren Friday March 27th at 10am.

There will be a Weather Spotter Training class offered at the Mobridge Fire Department meeting room on Monday, March 30th at 6:30pm. This training is open to the public and there is no cost associated with this 2-hour block of training. Pre-registration is appreciated but is not required. If you plan to attend, please simply leave a comment below with the number of folks will be attending with you.

Just a reminder that the Walworth County storm siren test is tomorrow March 25th at 10am. This will be in Akaska, Glenham, Java, Mobridge, New Evarts and Selby.

Starting Wednesday, temperatures will begin to increase over the area, peaking on Friday and Saturday. Highs in the 60s and 70s will be 20-30 degrees above normal, and may threaten daily record highs. Temperatures will cool back closer to normal by Sunday.

Snow continues to move southeast east river, with freezing rain on the west side of the system now into the Missouri valley, also headed southeast. Expect a light glaze of ice and icy roads which will persist until we can get some peeks of sunshine in here later this afternoon.
