Council Member Eric E. Alvarez Proudly serving the City of Modesto as Council Member for District 2

08/29/2026

Public safety requires priorities backed by action.

Since I took office in 2022, my council colleagues and I have unanimously approved investments in police staffing, technology, and neighborhood safety. Modesto is seeing measurable progress.

I will continue supporting effective, accountable policing and the resources needed to make every neighborhood safer. For your family and for mine.

In case you missed it, here are my comments at this evening’s council meeting:

1. 4th St Park & Aquatic Center funding history and
online liability form now available
2. MPD July 2026 Crime Stats
3. Modesto Pop-up Markets update

If my office can be helpful with anything within the city, please shoot me a DM or an email. As always, here to help.

Since 2025, I have worked directly with the Ramirez family and others to address the lack of safe, accessible sidewalk infrastructure near their city property. Conditions like these create serious barriers for our community, particularly seniors and residents with disabilities.

Modernizing our aging infrastructure requires partnership at every level of government. I call on our state and federal representatives to continue working with my office and the City of Modesto to secure the funding our neighborhoods need. Our families are depending on it.

Honored to receive the endorsement of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce as I seek RE-Election to continue serving the residents of Modesto.

I chaired the Central Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee from 2018-2022 fighting tooth and nail for small businesses to get the support they needed to keep their doors open before, during and after Covid.

I come from a family with a small business background. I understand fully the importance of supporting small businesses as that is what I did for years before serving on the council. I will continue to do just that for years to come.

Official Update on Pop-Ups in Modesto:

I appreciate that City staff has now met with representatives of our pop-up community and has begun discussing a path forward.

Economic development isn’t just about attracting large employers or major developments. It’s also about creating an environment where local entrepreneurs and small businesses have the opportunity to grow and succeed.
