Parent Resource Center

The Center offers support to parents through in-home volunteer mentoring and on-site parenting education classes to decrease the risk of child abuse, neglect and family violence. The goal of the Center is to provide emotional and educational support for parents in nurturing and guiding their children through the critical first 5 years of a child’s life. The Center operates with a small professiona

l staff and over 50 well-trained, closely supervised volunteers. This approach of in-home visitation and on-site parenting education is designed to meet both the short and long term needs of the family and is a powerful combination in reducing the risk of child abuse, child neglect and family violence. The target population is the high-risk parent, with a focus on first time pregnancies and parenting teens. The Center has a well-established base of collaborative partners, which includes other community-based organizations that provide a source of referrals. Services are confidential and free of charge and do not exclude anyone because of race, color, national origin, political affiliation, religion, marital status, sex, handicap, or sexual orientation. The Center receives the major portion of its funding from community sources such as grants, foundations, local businesses, service clubs, fund-raising events, private individuals and government contracts.
