Join us as we celebrate the legendary career of service and dedication of Chief Robert Rasnick!

After 47 years of faithfully serving Suffield Township and the Suffield Fire Department, Chief Rasnick is retiring. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of leadership, commitment, and community service.

Come share memories, stories, and well wishes as we honor a man who has devoted nearly five decades to protecting and serving our community.

The Suffield Fire Department would like to extend our appreciation to Field Local Schools for permitting us to intercept a school bus on its way to the scrap yard. This bus was used for multiple training sessions. The sessions included a 2 hour safety class for the school bus drivers, and multiple additional sessions for fire department personnel to utilize their skills in extrication techniques for accidents involving a school bus. These included patient extrication and proper application of our hydraulic tools to create openings in a bus for extrication purposes. Lastly, we were able to acquire an educational open burn permit to study how a school bus burns. They have a lot of fire resistive materials in them, but they will in fact burn.

Captains Emhoff and Jordan were honored at the Suffield Memorial Day Parade by the Suffield League. Capt. Emhoff for 28 years, and Capt. Jordan for 42 years. Capt. Jordan hands over "Sparky" duties to Grace Pieplow who is assuming fire prevention duties.

NOTE TIME CORRECTION==This Saturday, May 16th is Mark Jordan's retirement open house from 1 pm to 3 pm, open to the public. There will be a SPECIAL presentation to him at 2:30 p.m. Come and help us honor him for his 42 years of service to Suffield Township!! The event will be held in the Fire Station Community Room.

We were proud to host the Field Local bus drivers and aides for their annual 2 hour safety session. Safety lecture, talks about "D" drivers, bus crashes, bus fires and some expected uses for first aid kit. The drivers also used fire extinguishers and sat on a bus that gradually filled with "theater" smoke to see what a bus full of smoke looks like and how difficult it is to escape a bus full of smoke. We then went outside and the drivers walked through the windshield of the training bus and escaped through the roof hatch. So nice to have you all here with us!!
