Gonna be an awesome Event! The Kiwanis Poker Run is happy to partner with the Mohave Valley Fire Department to provide toys to children in need at Easter and Christmas and with Child & Family Resources to provide diapers and wipes to families needing a little help. Poker run participants are encouraged to donate an unwrapped toy, a box of diapers, or package of wipes at the poker run. Participants making a donation will be entered into a drawing for an awesome prize! Check out www.kiwanispokerrun.com for all the details.

Mohave Valley Fire Department hosted Chris Sleigher from the Mesa Fire Department to present a hands-on skills class titled Elevated Fire Attack. The class focused on standpipe took ups, deployment of hose lines in faster and quick fashion to get water on the fire. Fire attack operations for fires on second or third floor without a standpipe, and large water flow and move with 2.5-inch hose.

This free class was a fraction of the 20-hour class which is hosted at state fire school each year but allowed members from many local departments the chance to see and practice the skills and take them back to their department.
