The Weller Library held a Kids' Night Out on December 9th. We had 14 kids here from 6pm to 8:30pm. They played board games, used the computers, worked on jigsaw puzzles, and watched a movie. There was a spontaneous dance contest (great dancers!). Let's not forget the SEVERAL pizzas and other snacks they devoured! A big thank you to Paesano's for the pizza, and an especially big THANK YOU the the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post 25 who donated the money for us to purchase a 55 inch flat screen TV to show movies!

We are looking forward to the release of two new books from two of our favorite authors. On September 20th, the new Karin Slaughter thriller, The Kept Woman will hit the shelf. This is a long awaited addition to her Will Trent series.
That same day (September 20th), Harlan Coben fans can find his latest, "Home," on the shelves as well. Ten years after the high profile kidnapping of two young boys, only one returns home in Coben's newest thriller.
Don't miss either of these new books, available on their publication date, September 20th, 2016!

Calling all kids! We are starting some programs that are geared just for you at the Weller Library, and we are looking for your ideas to add programs that you will like.
Stop in to the library and fill in one of our interest surveys to let us know what you'd like to see at the library.

Hard to believe that it is back to school time! There are good things about that, though. It brings Fall, the best season for Upstate. And this year, it is going to bring some new programs to the Weller Library. We'd like to start with some programs geared specially for the kids at Jarvis Middle School because they are our close neighbors.
One idea was to have a "Mystery Club." We would read a book in one of the mystery series, like the Nancy Drew mysteries or Jigsaw Jones, or The Boxcar Children. We could get together every few weeks to talk about the books we were reading, and then we would follow clues to solve our own mystery at each meeting. You could do your reading from a book, or on line.
That is just one idea. Do you have any ideas? Please reply if you do. We are looking for things that you might like that we can do at the library. It is a great place to spend an hour or two after school!
