Schaefer for Keweenaw Cnty Rd Comm.

Schaefer for Keweenaw Cnty Rd Comm. Richard Schaefer is running for a seat on the Keweenaw County Road Commission in the August 5, 2014 My wife, Rheta, and I love the Keweenaw.

My name is Richard Schaefer and I am running in the August 5th Democratic Primary for the Keweenaw County Road Commission. The recession and cutbacks in State and Federal Funds have hit Keweenaw County, and especially the Road Commission, hard. The dollars may not come back soon, and wise management of the existing funds is essential. If elected, I will represent all the people of Keweenaw County

and make the most efficient use of the available funds. My 33 years of experience in Purchasing and Materials Management for General Motors has given me a good understanding of business and financial matters. Securing parts and services at the lowest cost and the highest quality in a timely manner is always the primary goal. My experience in this area would make me an excellent commissioner to support the Road Commission in a time of financial shortfall. I have served on the Calumet Theater Board, The Keweenaw County Historical Society Board, Keweenaw County Economic Development Committee, and The Grant Township Tax Review Board. I am currently a member of the Lac La Belle Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Calumet-Keweenaw Sportsman’s Club, The Keweenaw County Planning Commission, and President Elect of the CLK Rotary Club. My wife and I have also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, managing the construction of two homes in Cheboygan County. I take pride in volunteering and serving all people of the area. My volunteer work has also given me a strong background to understand the needs and requirements of Keweenaw County. I have an Undergraduate Degree in Marketing from Miami University (Ohio) and an MBA from the University of Dayton to further support my Business and Financial background. We have been associated with the area for decades and have lived year round in Keweenaw County since 2003. Please vote in the August 5th Primary.

Thank you to all the voters who provided me the opportunity to be their representative on the Keweenaw County Road Commission. I will provide more transparency and financial discipline, working for every resident of Keweenaw County, when I take office on January 1st.

Also, a special thanks to everyone who volunteered their time and
expertise to support my campaign in the primary and in the November 4 election. I would have not been successful without your help.

Thank You, everyone.

To all that supported me in the August 5th Primary, thank you very much. To all of you that did not vote for me, I will try harder to win your confidence and your vote in the November election.

I think that my posture of transparency and physical discipline through a different set of eyes is what you, the voter and resident of Keweenaw County, are requiring in their new Road Commissioner. This has been my campaign initiative since day one. I think the August 5th Primary results tend to support voter acceptance.

The results of the Primary by Township are as follows:

TOWNSHIP SCHAEFER JAASKELAINEN
Eagle Harbor 71 21
Allouez 92 87
Grant 45 16
Houghton 14 5
Sherman 12 7
TOTAL 234 136

These results show clear support in ALL Townships. The need for new representation is clear and I am the individual to represent you, the voter, on a more transparent Road Commission Board.

I will honor my campaign pledges and be an advocate for all the residents of Keweenaw County.

With your help in the November Election, I will be your new Road Commissioner. Please vote for me in November.

Thank you for your support.
Richard Schaefer
