We always enjoy bringing our ambulances to BOCES each year so Health Science and Criminal Justice students can see what we do up close. It’s a great chance for them to tour our fleet, meet our crew, and learn about EMS firsthand.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters at Ilion and Mohawk Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of one of your own is felt far beyond your department, it’s felt across the entire fire and EMS family. We stand with you, today and in the days ahead.

Ashley was also one of ours. She worked at MOVAC as an EMT before being hired by Ilion Fire Department in 2023, and in that short time, she left a mark that will never fade. She wasn’t just a coworker, she was a friend, someone who brought light, dedication, and heart to every shift. She went on to become a Paramedic and completed her ride time with us, continuing to show her dedication to this job and the people it serves. Ashley will never be forgotten. Her impact, her friendships, and the memories she gave us will stay with us forever.

Please keep her family, IFD, MFD, MOVAC, and her friends in your thoughts and prayers. Rest easy Ashley, we’ll take it from here, sister. 🤍❤️

🚨🚲 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 🚲🚨

In our continued effort to improve response times and better serve our community, we are proud to officially introduce our newest addition to the fleet… EMS RESPONSE BICYCLES.

That’s right. After months of planning, research, and at least one YouTube tutorial, we’ve determined that nothing says “rapid response” quite like two wheels (or in our case, 4), maximum leg power, and a whole lot of determination.

These state-of-the-art units are equipped with:
• High-speed pedal propulsion
• Advanced handlebar-mounted “ding ding” alert system
• Emergency lights (zip-tied for optimal aerodynamics)
• Storage compartments capable of holding approximately 1 (one) juice box and some gloves

Before placing them into service, our Chief personally ensured they met the highest standards by taking the first test ride. We’re happy to report he made it almost halfway down the driveway before requesting a hydration break and questioning several of his life choices.

All jokes aside—keep an eye out, because you never know when you might see us rolling up… literally.
Happy April Fools from all of us! Stay safe out there!

We are incredibly honored and grateful to have received the 2026 Herkimer BOCES Outstanding Community Partner Award!

We truly value Herkimer BOCES and the BOCES School of Careers. It’s always a privilege to guide, mentor, and teach the next generation of students who are exploring careers in emergency services.

With helping students gain hands-on experience and insight into the EMS field, we look forward to continuing to support and inspire future professionals.

Thank you for this recognition, it means a great deal to us!

You may have noticed something a little different out on the road lately…

Our newest ambulance, MOVAC 604, has officially been placed into service! 👀 While it may not look like our traditional units, this new rig brings a fresh look to our fleet—and we have to say, we’re really liking it!

MOVAC 604 may stand out with its unique color scheme, but it still represents the same mission, dedication, and commitment to high-quality patient care that our crews provide every single day. Whether it’s a routine transport or an emergency response, this unit is fully equipped and ready to serve our community with the professionalism and reliability you’ve come to expect from us.

New additions like this help us continue improving our service, ensuring we have dependable, up-to-date equipment to respond when you need us most. And let’s be honest—having a rig that turns a few heads doesn’t hurt either!

Now we want to hear from you—
What do you think of MOVAC 604’s new look?

We recently had the honor of receiving a message from a patient’s family member recognizing the outstanding care and professionalism displayed by our crew.

Moments like these serve as a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Providing high-quality patient care is at the core of our mission, and professionalism is one of our strongest values. Whether it’s a routine transport or a high-stress emergency, our crews strive to treat every patient with compassion, respect, and dignity.

Keeping patients calm, informed, and reassured during what may be one of the worst days of their lives is just one of the many ways we work to make difficult situations a little more comfortable. Clear communication, empathy, and attention to detail are all essential parts of the care we provide every day.

We are incredibly proud of our team for consistently going above and beyond, and we are grateful to the family for taking the time to share their experience with us. Your kind words mean more than you know.

Thank you for trusting us to be there when it matters most.

Happy First Day of Spring!

Today marks the official start of spring, and with warmer weather and longer days ahead, we’re excited to see our community getting back outdoors! While this season brings a lot to enjoy, it also comes with a few health and safety reminders to keep in mind:

🌿 Seasonal Allergies – Pollen levels are on the rise. If you suffer from allergies, stay ahead of symptoms with medications, keep windows closed on high pollen days, and seek medical attention if you experience trouble breathing.

🚴 Outdoor Activity Safety – As more people get outside to walk, run, and bike, remember to stay aware of traffic, wear proper safety gear, and stay hydrated.

🐜 Insect Bites & Ticks – Ticks and other insects become more active this time of year. Use insect repellent, check yourself and your pets after being outdoors, and watch for signs of tick-borne illness.

🌡️ Temperature Changes – Spring weather can be unpredictable. Dress in layers to avoid getting too cold or overheated, especially during early mornings and evenings.

🌷 Yard Work & Injuries – With spring cleanup underway, be mindful of proper lifting techniques, stay hydrated, and take breaks to avoid overexertion.

☀️ Sun Exposure – Even mild spring sun can lead to sunburn. Don’t forget sunscreen and protective clothing when spending extended time outdoors.

As always, your safety is our priority. If you have an emergency, don’t hesitate to call 911. MOVAC Ambulance is here for you 24/7.

Enjoy the season, stay safe, and welcome spring!

🚨 Do your part to keep our community safe by staying home! ❄️🏠

Due to the significant snowfall expected across the region, MOVAC strongly urges residents to stay off the roads unless travel is **absolutely** necessary.

Heavy snow, low visibility, and rapidly changing road conditions will make travel especially dangerous this evening and overnight. Staying off the roads helps protect you, and allows emergency responders and road crews to do their jobs safely. 🚑🚓🚜

If you must travel, please slow down, use extreme caution, and give emergency vehicles and work crews plenty of space.

Thank you for looking out for one another. 💙
