Mayor James M. Baron Nestled in the beautiful Mohawk Valley, is the Village of Mohawk in Upstate New York.

The village officially became known as Mohawk in 1838 and was later incorporated on April 16, 1844. The Village of Mohawk is along the southern bank of the Erie Canal in Herkimer County.

Beginning Monday, October 5, through Monday, October 12, Route 28 South will be closed to all traffic starting at the bottom of Vickerman Hill. Please observe all posted detour signage for alternative routes. Road work is being conducted by the NYS Department of Transportation.
