We’d like to commend the Peekskill Professional Firefighters Local 2343, Cortlandt Peekskill RPS, and Peekskill Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps for the tremendous work they put in during this incident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families of this devastating fire.

Mohegan EMS is proud to announce that multiple members of our staff won awards at this years WREMSCO award ceremony.

These awards are a testament to the caliber of first responders that respond to our community during their time of need.

The Westchester Regional EMS Council honored emergency medical services professionals from across the county during its annual awards ceremony held downcounty on May 19 at Westchester Community College.

If your house is on fire, there are laws that requires there to be a fire department.

If you get robbed, there are laws that requires there to be police department.

But what happens when your heart stops? There is no law that says anyone needs to come help you.

On average, 5-10 EMS agencies close per year in New York State. Why? Funding.

There is NO requirement for municipalities to provide an EMS service. That means these services could go away and there is no recourse for it.

Do you think it’s ok to wait 30 minutes for a mutual aid ambulance to respond as your loved one is in cardiac arrest because there is no requirement to provide a service? We don’t.

That’s why Mohegan EMS is calling on local and state leaders to do the RIGHT thing. Make it a REQUIREMENT to provide Emergency Medical Services in our communities.

WHATS OUR GOAL?🚨

Our goal, along with the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps Inc. is to make sure we have a self-sustaining EMS service in our town. We operate within separate borders, but our mission is the same: when you call 911, our ambulance responds.

It’s not a question or controversy, our areas population is growing, but the towns services MUST grow with it.

Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Mohegan EMS are calling for local officials to step in amidst growing funding concerns.

Mohegan EMS is willing to have the tough discussions surrounding our towns public safety. As our area grows, our emergency services MUST not be a forethought and MUST grow with it.

For decades, the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Mohegan Emergency Medical Services have operated as volunteer-based agencies supplemented by paid staff—albeit with uneven municipal support.

It is no secret that our area is evolving and it is our mission to evolve with it.

We are proud to be at the forefront of innovation to combat the crisis New York State faces with emergency medial services.

Mohegan EMS is ready to have the tough discussions that are needed to move all of us forward.

Elected leaders, emergency responders and county officials convened on March 30 at Cortlandt Town Hall for a joint roundtable on the future of emergency medical services, wrestling with how to stabilize a system increasingly strained by rising costs, dwindling volunteers and flat state support.
