It’s been awhile since some updated photos have been posted. We are getting really close and it feels like the finish line is within sight.

Over the next month or so all the final touches will be completed. Appliances installed, testing of the building’s alerting systems and making sure the bugs are worked out before taking over the building.

It’s going to be an exciting year!! Stay tuned!

Shortly after 7:30am on Jan 1st Tanker and Engine 42 assisted Township of Spring Professional Firefighters with a working Barn Fire.

E42 finished laying 5in supply line from Gelsinger Rd to S.Mountain and Grings Hill Rd. Once that was completed a positive water supply was established for E85 and L79. T42 was then released and E42 was on scene for a little over a hr.

A special Thank You to the Ben Fisher family for stopping by our station on Christmas Day and dropping off a box of delicious donuts for our on-duty crew. And while visiting, they were given a tour of our fire apparatus and equipment.

Merry Christmas from the Cumru Township Fire Department.

B Platoon got to spend some time this afternoon visiting with a resident who recently needed our help.

Miss Marie recently had a minor incident at her residence that required our response and she reached out to the Chief this week to express her gratitude. She was very appreciative of the quick response and the professionalism of everyone on scene.

As a thank you, she wanted to buy dinner for the department. Thank you, Marie for your generous donation.

Thanks to Berks Weekly for doing this article about the Fire Police and the job they do that’s often overlooked by many.

No matter the call, no matter the time of day and no matter the length of time on scene our Fire Police are there controlling traffic, keeping the public safe and protecting Fire, PD, EMS and the towing companies while they operate.

These are people who volunteer their time to help all of us. Please be respectful and courteous the next time you see them on the road.

Thank you Glenva Drupp and the rest of the Cumru Township Fire Police for the job you do as well as all of our mutual aid Fire Police.

We Appreciate You!!

🚨 When you see flashing lights and blocked roads in Berks County, it’s often fire police keeping you safe. From Kenhorst, Cumru, and West Reading, these volunteers shared what their job is really like — directing traffic, protecting first responders, and asking drivers to slow down and follow directions.

They also want the public to know: fire police isn’t just for retirees, and local departments are looking for new volunteers.

Brush Fire, Rte 222 Northbound

A brush fire occurred along the northbound lanes of Rte. 222 between the Mohnton and Sinking Spring exits on Thursday afternoon October 16. TSFRS Engine 85 responded along with Wyomissing Ladder 79. Engine 85 reported smoke visible on the approach and special called Cumru FD Tanker 42. On arrival, Capt. 85 reported a working brush fire approximately 25X100 feet in size. He also identified that the fire was actually in Cumru Township at that point.

E85 went to work with their booster line with support from L79, who had taken a blocking position on the slow lane. Tanker 42 stood fast to supply water if needed. Rescue Engine 42 and Captain 42 also responded on the clarification of location. On arrival, command was transferred to Captain 42, and RE42 replaced L79 which was released. Personnel from 85 and 42 overhauled the area and E85 was released by Command.

Crews were out at Cumru Elementary on 10/15 for Fire Prevention with the students.

Students watched a fire safety video, fire safety tips and fire prevention instructions were discussed. Students also got to see what a firefighter looks and sounds like when he is fully dressed in his PPE.

Afterwards everyone got to go outside and see what all is carried on a firetruck and how they operate.

Thankyou to Kenhorst and Shillington Fire Co. for assisting with fire truck tours.
