Thanks to Berks Weekly for doing this article about the Fire Police and the job they do that’s often overlooked by many.
No matter the call, no matter the time of day and no matter the length of time on scene our Fire Police are there controlling traffic, keeping the public safe and protecting Fire, PD, EMS and the towing companies while they operate.
These are people who volunteer their time to help all of us. Please be respectful and courteous the next time you see them on the road.
Thank you Glenva Drupp and the rest of the Cumru Township Fire Police for the job you do as well as all of our mutual aid Fire Police.
We Appreciate You!!
🚨 When you see flashing lights and blocked roads in Berks County, it’s often fire police keeping you safe. From Kenhorst, Cumru, and West Reading, these volunteers shared what their job is really like — directing traffic, protecting first responders, and asking drivers to slow down and follow directions.
They also want the public to know: fire police isn’t just for retirees, and local departments are looking for new volunteers.
