Around here, our fire company families always show up, especially when there is a fundraiser involved! ❤️

We might even be getting a little help from the next generation of Brecknock firefighters to make sure everyone knows it is time to get those Clam Bake orders in! 😉🚒

Yesterday evening, Brecknock Township Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to an unusual rescue after a pony became trapped in a muddy creek and was unable to get out on its own.

Crews worked alongside several responding agencies to safely extricate the approximately 700 to 800 pound pony from the creek. Thanks to great teamwork, careful planning, and a lot of determination, the pony was successfully rescued and reunited with its owners.

Incidents like this remind us that not every emergency involves a fire or vehicle. Our volunteers are ready to respond whenever our community calls, whether it is helping people or animals in need.

Thank you to all of the agencies that responded and worked together to bring this rescue to a successful conclusion. 🐴🚒💙

After many storm related calls on Saturday, last evening, Brecknock Township Volunteer Fire Company responded as part of the mutual aid assignment to a reported structure fire in Kenhorst.

Upon arrival, crews encountered smoke and fire originating in the residence. Firefighters quickly placed water on the fire, brought it under control, and conducted a thorough search for any extension to ensure the fire had not spread beyond the area of origin. The incident was later turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal for investigation.

We are thankful for the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies whose teamwork helped bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

As always, thank you to our dedicated volunteers who are ready to answer the call at any hour, and to our community for your continued support.

☀️🇺🇸 Fourth of July Safety Reminder from Brecknock Township Fire Company 🇺🇸☀️

As you celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, please remember to stay safe in the extreme heat.

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty.
🌳 Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning whenever possible.
👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
🐶 Do not forget your pets. They need plenty of fresh water and a cool place to rest too.

🎆 With the hot, dry conditions, fireworks can quickly ignite grass, brush, and other combustible materials. Even a single spark can lead to a dangerous fire.

Our recommendation is simple:
Leave the fireworks to the professionals. Attend one of the many local fireworks displays and enjoy a safe, spectacular show without putting your family, neighbors, or first responders at unnecessary risk.

If you choose to use legal consumer fireworks, please do so responsibly:
• Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby.
• Never use fireworks near dry grass, fields, or wooded areas.
• Never allow children to handle fireworks.
• Fully extinguish used fireworks before disposing of them.

Today, the Rescue Engine proudly participated in the Mohnton and Shillington Memorial Day Parades as we joined our neighboring communities in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Following the Shillington parade ceremonies, Lieutenant DeLynn High was recognized as Firefighter of the Year alongside other outstanding firefighters from the Mifflin area. We are incredibly proud of Lieutenant High for this well deserved honor and grateful for the dedication, leadership, and service shown both to our department and the community.

Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant High on this outstanding achievement!
