MOLALLA FIRE RESPONDS TO 4 ALARM FIRE
Last night Molalla firefighters along with many of our mutual aid partners responded to the Coleman Ranch for a 4 alarm fire involving a barn full of hay. Because of the rapid growth of the fire, firefighters were forced to move back and protect the adjacent structures on the property. The rapid growth can be seen from the first arriving chief officer's dashcam from 7:02pm to 7:08pm. There was no reported civilian or livestock injuries, 3 firefighters were transported to a local hospital for evaluation due to minor injuries. Thank you to all the surrounding fire agencies, Molalla Police and Clackamas County Sheriff's Office who lent their assistance during this call. And a very big thank you to The Feed Shack for taking care of feeding firefighters after this long night. The area is still an active fire scene and is being monitored by The Coleman Ranch staff along with fire personnel. Smoke and flames will continue to be seen in the days and weeks to come.

Backyard Burning Season Ending Soon
Molalla Fire will be closing all backyard burning for the season at 5:00pm on June 12, 2026. As temperatures rise and conditions dry out, the risk of fire increases significantly.

Last week, Molalla Fire District had the pleasure of celebrating three new members as they graduated from the North Willamette Valley Fire Academy. These firefighters have invested countless hours of training, studying, and hands‑on skill development to prepare themselves to serve the citizens and visitors of Molalla Fire District. Congratulations!

This Friday and Saturday, Molalla Fire, along with the Oregon State Fire Marshal, DPSST, Oregon National Guard - Oregon Military Department, Oregon Department of Forestry - North Cascade District, are hosting our annual Metro Advanced Wildland Training. The training takes place at Sawtell near Pierce Road. We will have over 160 personnel from more than 25 agencies in the area to enhance training for wildfire response throughout Oregon. Please be cautious when in that area and be prepared to see plumes of smoke.

Barn Fire Outside Molalla Prompts Multi Agency Response; Pets Rescued

At approximately 2:00 p.m. today, Molalla Fire District responded to multiple reports of a structure fire just outside the city of Molalla. The first arriving Chief Officer found 2 structures heavily involved in fire, with bystanders reporting that a person might still be inside.
Due to the possibility of an entrapped victim, the incident was immediately upgraded to a second alarm. The second alarm brought additional resources from Aurora Fire District, Canby Fire District, Clackamas Fire District, Colton Fire District, Mt. Angel Fire District, and Silverton Fire District.
Firefighters conducted a rapid search of the barn and confirmed that all occupants were accounted for. During the search, crews unfortunately found several animals that did not survive the fire.
Firefighters were however able to rescue two dogs and one cat from one of the structures. Fire personnel utilized specialized pet rescue oxygen masks, carried on fire apparatus to provide immediate treatment. The animals were safely reunited with their owner. One person was displaced due to the fire.
Molalla Fire District extends its appreciation to the mutual aid agencies for their quick response and coordinated efforts during this incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Saturday, May 30th, Molalla Fire will be hosting the North Willamette Valley Fire Academy “Burn to Learn” training event at 12545 S. Wildcat Rd.

If you see smoke in the area, please do not be alarmed. Approximately 30 firefighters will be participating in live fire training throughout the day.

This type of hands-on training is invaluable for our new firefighters. Opportunities to train in a real structure are rare and provide experience that cannot be replicated in a classroom setting.

We would like to sincerely thank the property owners for their generous donation and support of firefighter training.

Wildcat Road is narrow with limited access, so we ask the public to please avoid the area during the training event if possible.
