We help families in crisis get back on their feet and keep families intact. Examples of how Safe Families for Children can help when a:
-parent needs a break or is isolated with no/few supportive relationships
-parent needs to be hospitalized
-parent is facing eviction or is already homeless
-parent has a mental health crisis
-paren

t is entering a substance abuse program
-parent is facing a short term jail sentence

Situations that we cannot help with:
-when there is evidence of current abuse
-child is exhibiting dangerous, violent behavior or in need of a substance abuse rehab program
-we are unable to obtain consent from one or both parents or other legal guardian
-the child's behavior is the sole reason for the parental crisis

Parents who seek to participate must:
-understand that participation is 100% voluntary
-show proof of identity and proof of health insurance for their child(ren)
-sign a consent form allowing short-term guardianship and healthcare
-retain legal custody of their child(ren), and can have their child(ren) returned at any time
-maintain contact with staff/volunteer coach
-understand that safe families for children cannot guarantee the availability of a host family

Get Ready!!
On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Safe Families for Children QC will kick off a 24-hour giving challenge!

Who doesn't enjoy a little friendly competition, especially when it strengthens families and fosters community connections?

Our goal is to raise $5,000 in just one day, and we need your support along with your families, friends, and neighbors to help us reach it!

We will track donations from the areas we serve: Scott, Muscatine, Des Moines, Clinton/Jackson, and Henry/Mercer counties and post who the winning county is. Let's see which community can raise the most to support families in need!

As we head into the weekend, how can we pray for you? Our hope is to wrap around our community with all the support we can think of, and it helps that we believe in a God who listens.

Woof woof! Today is National Dog Day! One of the special things about hosting kiddos in our homes is that they can get love and support not only from us, but our 4-legged family members as well. Don't ever doubt how much a good snuggle from a furry friend can do 🐾🐢

For , we wanted to share a sweet moment that happened a few weeks ago. We had a few of our host families wrap around a mother and her children that were needing some support. We are SO BLESSED to have to opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in our community who need to see it the most. Thank you to this mom for letting us love and support you πŸ’šπŸ’™

makes an appearance again! Today, we wanted to give you an update on a few of the families that we have been serving:

πŸ¦‹ We have 4 moms that we are working with as they navigate different medical situations. Anything from broken bones to needing help with their kids while they have a hospital stay.

πŸ¦‹ We also have 3 other moms that we are helping with respite and forming connections with other women/families in the community. Surrounding them with a village of support is the goal.
