Well, butter our biscuits… the rumors are true! 🤠

Texas Roadhouse is coming to Moline!

📍 3434 38th Avenue, just north of John Deere Road

We celebrated with a groundbreaking this morning alongside representatives from Texas Roadhouse and Scout Capital Group. Even Andy the Armadillo joined us!

The approximately $8 million restaurant will seat 360 guests and is expected to bring about 200 jobs to Moline. Hiring is expected to begin in March, with an anticipated summer 2027 opening.

We’re excited and grateful to Texas Roadhouse for choosing to invest in Moline. See you next summer at the ribbon cutting! 🎉

Congratulations to Jack, this year’s lucky Touch-a-Truck bike giveaway winner! 🚲

His uncle picked up the brand-new bike on his behalf, along with a free tune-up and a year of free adjustments, all thanks to Wright Cycles!

For the third year in a row, Wright Cycles has donated a bike for the event. Owner Dean Wright says his shop is more than just a business. It’s a place to serve and connect with the community.

We’re grateful for the way Wright Cycles continues to show up for Moline year after year. Thank you, Wright Cycles! 💙

We know the closure of the Joslin Tyson plant is affecting many of our neighbors.

We’ve gathered local resources for *anyone* who could use some extra support right now, including mental health resources.

🎓 More summer interns worth celebrating!

This summer, Team Moline welcomed seven other interns who gained hands-on experience in local government.

Six joined us from Moline High School: Madelyn, Coen, Nick, Viveck, Varun and Landon.

We also welcomed Charles, an Abundance Network intern from Bowdoin College in Maine.

We’re grateful for their fresh perspectives and hard work.

Thank you for spending your summer with Team Moline! 💙

🎉 Meet the intern who just won a national award!

Last night, Bryan Viyegbe joined City Council to share what he learned during his summer internship with the City of Moline.

Bryan first joined Team Moline as a high school intern last year and returned this summer as a scholar in the ICMA - International City/County Management Association Bob Turner Internship Program, gaining hands-on experience in local government.

He also teamed up with four scholars from across the country to create “Locating Local Government,” which won ICMA’s public service announcement competition! 🏆

You may also recognize Bryan from Mayor Rayapati’s State of the City earlier this year.

We’ve loved having Bryan with us for two summers, and we’re proud of all he’s accomplished. We can’t wait to see where he goes next! 👏

The closure of the Tyson Foods plant in Joslin is affecting families across the Quad Cities, including here in Moline.

To our residents who worked at the facility, we know this is a difficult and unexpected transition.

If you’ve been impacted, resources are available to help:

🔹 City of Moline Emergency Rental & Utility Assistance – Help for eligible Moline renters experiencing financial hardship (link in comments)

🔹 Project NOW, Inc. – Housing, utility and other assistance

🔹 The Salvation Army Moline – Emergency assistance and support

🔹 River Bend Food Bank – Food assistance through local pantries and community partners

We’re thinking of all the workers and families affected by this closure and encourage anyone who needs support to reach out to these local resources. 💙
