During the last week of May, some Moline High School seniors returned to their former elementary and middle schools dressed in their caps and gowns. Students lined the halls to applaud the seniors and give high-fives. The graduation walk is intended to retrace the seniors' steps and inspire elementary and middle school children to reach that stage one day. It is a wonderful tradition!

Congratulations to MHS 2026 graduate Braeden Rittenhouse, who received a scholarship through the Moline Regional Community Foundation!

CONGRATULATIONS! Braeden Rittenhouse received the D.A.R.E. Scholarship
Field of Study: Mechanical Engineering / Biomechanics
Braeden's motivation is rooted in watching his grandmother lose
the ability to walk due to worsening neuropathy. That personal
experience made the abstract potential of engineering suddenly
vivid and urgent: innovation in prosthetics and assistive devices
isn't a technical exercise — it's the difference between a person
living independently and being confined. He wants to be part of
creating those solutions.

Congratulations to MHS 2026 graduate Sophia Kelley, who received a scholarship through the Moline Regional Community Foundation!

CONGRATULATIONS! Sophia Kelley received the D.A.R.E. Scholarship
Field of Study: Project Management
Sophia's defining quality emerged on a pool deck her freshman
year — she pretended to be confident presenting herself to
twenty strangers in swimsuits, and it worked. That moment
became a personal philosophy: act first, think later. She started
joining clubs, taking on leadership roles, and discovering that
managing people and projects didn't just come naturally to her —
it energized her.

Congratulations to MHS 2026 graduate Bryan Viyegbe, who received a scholarship through the Moline Regional Community Foundation!

CONGRATULATIONS! Bryan Viyegbe received the Clement T. Hanson Scholarship
Field of Study: Business / Accounting
Bryan's career direction took shape through two pivotal summer
experiences. A city internship with Moline's Business
Administration Branch showed him how decisions made behind a
desk ripple into everyday community life. A Gateway program at
the University of Iowa placed him on a consulting team for a local
small business, and the late-night collaboration, the slide decks,
the camaraderie — all of it confirmed that business was where he
belonged.

Congratulations to MHS 2026 graduate Naga Sai Dhiraj Kasam, who received a scholarship through the Moline Regional Community Foundation!

CONGRATULATIONS! Naga Sai Dhiraj Kasam received the Clement T. Hanson Scholarship
Field of Study: Computer Science & Physics / Climate Prediction
Naga's story begins with monsoon storms in Hyderabad — power
outages, anxious waits for a father delayed in flooded traffic, and
a compound wall collapsing in heavy rain while his family's
partially built house trembled nearby. Those experiences planted
a deep awareness of the gap between human ambition and
environmental reality, and they now fuel his pursuit of a
Computer Science and Physics degree at UIUC, where he intends
to build next-generation climate prediction software.

Congratulations to MHS 2026 graduate Tristan Baxter, who received a scholarship through the Moline Regional Community Foundation!

CONGRATULATIONS! Tristan Baxter received the Clement T. Hanson Scholarship
Field of Study: Environmental Law
Tristan's journey to law began in AP Government, a class that felt
less like coursework and more like "the world's secrets being
revealed." It was a debate project — researching, arguing,
winning — that confirmed something he hadn't yet named: he
loves advocacy. The process of building an argument, finding
facts in unexpected places, and defending a position felt like play
rather than work, and he left the classroom knowing exactly what
he wanted to do.

WAX MUSEUM → On May 19th, 3rd-grade students in Ms. Martel's and Ms. Wismer’s class at Bicentennial Elementary School participated in a wax museum portraying famous individuals. Using “Who Is, Who Was” books, students selected a character (or a personal favorite) to learn more about, then prepared a speech and a backdrop/poster. Students stayed frozen in place until an audience member came to listen to their presentation. They did a fantastic job! Some characters portrayed include: Amelia Earhart, Anne Frank, Elvis Presley, Babe Ruth, Neil Armstrong, Beyonce, Stan Lee and more.

Congratulations to MHS 2026 graduate Alhouseny Bah, who received a scholarship through the Moline Regional Community Foundation!

CONGRATULATIONS! Alhouseny Bah received the Clement T. Hanson Scholarship
Field of Study: Medicine / Healthcare
Alhouseny grew up voraciously curious, terrified that choosing a
career would mean giving up every other subject he loved. After
years of reflection, he made peace with healthcare as his path —
recognizing that medicine would actually allow him to draw on
history, critical thinking, and science, while putting knowledge into
direct, meaningful use. He sees the analytical mindset that
history teaches as an asset rather than a sacrifice.
