Shout out to Team Moline, who represented our district at the Model Schools Conference earlier this month. We are so proud to have two new schools, Franklin Falcons and Woodrow Wilson Middle School, join the ranks of Model Schools!
Our team of teachers and administrators did a great job co-presenting to colleagues from across the country, sharing their journey to becoming a Model School and highlighting their work with the Illinois 5Essentials and Ambitious Instruction.
Presenters included:
~Franklin Elementary Principal Grant Putnam and 2nd grade teacher Rachel Moore
~Wilson Middle School Principal Tom Ferguson, Former Dean of Students Jamie Trost and teachers Diane Callaway and Tracy Schnell
~Moline-Coal Valley Director of Secondary Education Bob Beem and Deputy Superintendent Dr. Brian Prybil
A special thank you to the entire support team for helping to showcase the great work happening throughout our district.
This recognition is noteworthy considering the select group of schools honored nationwide. Franklin was one of only ten elementary schools recognized, and Wilson was one of just eight middle schools to earn Model School status across our country.
With this year’s selections, Franklin Elementary and Wilson Middle School join Hamilton Elementary, which was named a Model School in 2025. Moline-Coal Valley now has three schools that have earned this prestigious recognition and are excited to add more to the list in the coming years.
In addition, Moline-Coal Valley was named an “Innovative District” by the Center for Model Schools in 2024 and 2025, further demonstrating our district’s ongoing commitment to school improvement, innovation and student success.
