Edward Chipman Library Book Club
Next meeting is Tuesday September 8 th at 6pm to discuss “The Last Mandarin” by Louise Penny and Melissa Fung. Octobers book club choice is “The Good Dirt” by Charmaine Wilkerson.
On Tuesday July 14 the book club met to discuss “The Golden Boy” by Patricia Finn. We had a good turnout, feelings about the book were mixed. Members felt that disagreements between the two characters, Agnes and Stafford, got in the way of the overall flow of the story without giving the reader relevant information. We thought the ending was surprising and
heartwarming but would have liked to know more about the children earlier in the story.
There was no meeting in August due to Glad Fest. On Tuesday September 8 at 6 pm we will get together to discuss the new novel, “The Last Mandarin” by Louise Penny and Mellissa Fung. Most people associate Louise Penny with her Gamache series, stories of Chief Inspector Gamache and crime solving in the remote Canadian village of Three Pines. “The Last Mandarin”, however is a collaborative effort of Louise Penny and journalist Mellissa Fung. The book is both an international thriller and the story of a mother and daughter.
Please join us in discussing this interesting book on Tuesday September 8th at 6pm at the
library. The book is available at the library. All are welcome to join in the discussion.
