*UPDATE* All fire units have cleared the scene, law enforcement still has that section of I-20 still shut down. All patients were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

*ACTIVE INCIDENT* Please avoid I-20 at exit 73 multi car accident. Please find an alternate route.

Yesterday 5 of our firefighters on our apparatus committee traveled to Mansfield Texas to Metro Fire to do the final inspection and make ready for our new Engine 5. We could not be more pleased with how the truck came out and how smooth Metro Fire made the process. Check out the video below for how the process was !

This weekend the Monahans Fire Department along with Grandfalls, Barstow, Pyote and Wickett Fire departments hosted the Permian Basin District SFFMA spring convention. More photos will be posted in the next day or two. But here are some of the events from Friday and Saturday. Thank you to all who helped, contributed door prizes! There are so many to thank!

Good Morning, Just clarify on a couple things about the convention. The Pumper races that start at 1pm are open to the public to come and watch. At 7:30pm the doors will open to the public for the live music by clay creek. Entry to the live music is by donation. So whatever you would like to give would be more than appreciated!

This morning, the Monahans Fire Department responded to I-20 EB approximately around the 82mm for a vehicle fire. Fire units arrived on scene and found a pick up with the engine compartment fully involved. We had to shut down the interstate for a little but we made quick work of getting the fire out. Thanks to the Ward County Sheriff's Office and Ward County EMS for the assist.

( We forgot to get pictures) tonight we voted on 3 new probationary firefighters. What’s so special about these 3 is that a couple months ago we as a department decided to vote on changing our bylaws and allow 18-20 year old join the department again. And with city council approval we were able to make it happen. These 3 will be under intense supervision and have to adhere to a lot of new rules and policies. Welcome to the family Ty Daignault, Chylie Najar and Caiden Rice! We are very glad to have you all and know you will make us and the community proud!

So we are shaking things up a bit for the convention this year. We have got Clay Creek coming to play at the dance Saturday April 18th and we have decided to open the dance portion to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door for public entry. This is a BYOB event and due to rules of the Ward County Event Center please do not bring glass bottles. Come out and join us for a night of dancing and live music.

Good Morning Monahans ! This week the Monahans Volunteer Fire Department along with Grandfalls, Pyote, Wickett and Barstow Fire Departments will be hosting the Permian Basin District SFFMA convention! It has been years since the convention has been hosted in ward county. We need YOUR help! We are looking for door prizes to raffle off during our meeting and our Dinner and dance. If you work for a company that has any give away stuff ( hats, Coozies, stickers, cups etc) we would like to do some free advertising for you. This afternoon Monahans Fire was dispatched to a grass fire between the 92 and 93 mile marker westbound on I-20. Fire units arrived on scene along with a Brush Truck from West Odessa Fire Rescue. We were able to make quick work of getting it put out.
