Welcome to the First Week at MECC!
The first week of school is all about learning “school!” New classrooms, new friends, new routines, and new expectations are a BIG deal for our little Cubs. We know this is a new experience for families, too, and we are here to help!
🕢 MORNING ARRIVAL
Doors Open: 7:30 AM
Tardy Bell: 8:02 AM
When students arrive, they will head to their classrooms and begin their morning routine.
🥞 Breakfast is available at school!
Students who are eating breakfast at school will pick up their breakfast and eat in their classrooms.
Please help us get your child to school on time so they have plenty of time to eat breakfast and settle in before the school day begins.
🚪 FIRST FOUR DAYS — QUICK GOODBYES HELP!
During the first four days of school, parents are welcome to walk their child inside and to their classroom.
We know this is a BIG milestone; so absolutely snap that first-day photo, give a hug and kiss, say your goodbye, and let us take it from there! 💜
We kindly ask families to keep morning drop-off short and sweet rather than staying in the classroom. Longer goodbyes can sometimes make the transition harder for our little learners.
The sooner students begin following their classroom routine independently, the sooner school starts to feel familiar, safe, and FUN!
After the first four days, students will say goodbye at drop-off. MECC staff will be ready to greet students, help them out of the car, and make sure they safely get where they need to go.
🍎 LUNCH WITH YOUR CHILD
We LOVE having parents come eat lunch with their children!
We do encourage families to wait until at least the second week of school before joining us for lunch. This gives students time to learn their lunch routine, become comfortable with their teachers and classmates, and adjust to being at school.
🚗 AFTERNOON DISMISSAL
Dismissal begins at 3:12 PM.
* Pre-K Pickup: Park Street
* Kindergarten Pickup: Sycamore Street
Please have your car tag visible during pickup.
The first few days of dismissal may take a little longer as students, families, and staff learn the routine. Thank you for your patience! It will get faster and smoother as everyone learns the process.
🐻 THE FIRST WEEK IS FOR LEARNING “SCHOOL”
Our biggest goal this first week is helping children learn what it means to be at school; where to go, what to do, classroom routines, lunch, recess, dismissal, and how to be part of their classroom community.
Every arrival, goodbye, breakfast, lunch, and dismissal is helping them build confidence and independence.
Thank you for trusting us with your little Cubs. We can’t wait for a great first week at MECC! 💜💛
