The next Monett Charter Commission workshop will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the Barry-Lawrence Library, Monett Branch, located at 2200 Park St. in Monett.

The Monett City Council voted unanimously to ask resident if the city should change its form of government.
At the April 2027 election, Monett voters will be asked if the city should pursue the development of a city charter. At the same time, voters will elect 13 individuals who will be responsible for drafting the city charter should voters answer “yes” to the charter ballot question.
The City of Monett will host workshops to educate potential Charter Commission candidates about the process to become Charter Commission candidates on the April 2027 ballot. This will be the same presentation, repeated at different times and locations to help ensure all interested residents have an opportunity to attend and learn about the charter process. Additionally, a video of the presentation will be made available.
