Warren County Sheriff's Office Sheriff's Office and jail. The Warren County Sheriff's Office serves legal papers to county residents.

In addition, the Sheriff's Office patrols all the county roads and responds to all calls for assistance in the county. The Sheriff's Department also gives assistance when necessary to other law enforcement and emergency response agencies in the county.

On the evening of 6/6/26 a two vehicle accident occurred on US 34 near Kirkwood. Three persons were deceased at the scene and three others were taken from the scene by helicopter for treatment of injuries. Media inquiries should be directed to the Illinois State Police, the agency which is investigating the accident.

On June 1st, 2026 at about 11:40 AM, an accident happened at the intersection of 245th Ave and 120th street, involving a passenger car and a semi pulling a tanker trailer. The driver of the car was deceased at the scene. There were no other reported injuries.

On June 2nd at approximately 5:30 AM an accident occurred on US 67 at 280th Ave, involving a garbage truck and a passenger van. Six persons in the van were transported for treatment, two by medical helicopter.

Media inquiries should be directed to the Illinois State Police, the agency which is investigating both accidents.

Motorists are reminded to drive defensively, obey all traffic laws, and not become distracted by use of electronic devices. Further, with construction traffic delays on US 67 north of Monmouth., travelers should plan to leave earlier, and not speed to make up time.

*****Update 5/31/26: Efforts since Friday evening have not resulted in locating the dogs being sought. Deputies will continue to make patrols of the area. It is important that sightings be called in immediately. We have also coordinated with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office due to proximity of the county line.

****Update 5/29/2026: On Friday May 29th at 5:30 AM a concentrated search of in and around South Henderson Creek along 150th Ave from 40th Street to 60th Street was conducted with the assistance of Illinois State Police Air support. There was no finding. As planned, a team of individuals experienced in predator control will initiate surveillance during hours of darkness on Friday May 29th, and Saturday May 30th. As before, persons are asked to immediately report dogs running at large to 309 734 8383.

On the morning of Friday, May 29, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office will initiate a coordinated search for two predatory dogs believed to be near South Henderson Creek south east of Kirkwood. Area of search will be west to east from approximately 50th Street to near US 67, and south to north in an area of approximately 140th Avenue to 160th Avenue.

If the search does not produce results, a team of volunteer individuals with team experience in predator control will initiate a night search in coordination with the Sheriff’s Office over the weekend.

Individuals are requested to stay out of the search area and not involve themselves independently, nor fly drones.

The dogs are described as a black Pitbull with white chest, and a black Cane Corso. If the dogs are seen, report the sighting immediately to Monmouth Dispatch center 309-734-8383.

The Courthouse will be closed Monday May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.

Update to previous post regarding east entrance of courthouse: Sidewalk entrance will be under construction, scheduled to begin Tuesday May 26th. . Erroneous information was received and posted that the east entrance would still be accessible. That is updated to reflect the east entrance will be CLOSED and public entrance to the courthouse will be on the north side. Apologies for any confusion.

The courthouse was closed on April 15th and 16th out of an abundance of caution after concerns of the building were raised. In consultation with inspecting engineers, it is permissible to resume operations. A written report is forthcoming. The courthouse will reopen on Friday, April 17th.

Traffic Advisory – Another phase of the US 67 project north of Monmouth is beginning. Tree clearing is scheduled to begin Monday, Feb 16, 2026. Affected area will be at 245th Avenue (Gerlaw turn off) north to 270th Ave. As the project progresses, traffic lights will be installed to accommodate one lane traffic. An exact date for the traffic lights is not yet established. Motorists are requested to observe all traffic laws, obey flaggers, be alert for sudden stops, and slow down considerably for the safety of motorists and workers.
