The City of Monmouth is alerting Monmouth residents that a SNOW EMERGENCY will be in effect for MIDNIGHT MONDAY MARCH 16, 2026 UNTIL 8AM TUESDAY MARCH 17, 2026. ANY VEHICLES PARKED ON A “SNOW EMERGENCY” ROUTE NEED TO BE MOVED OFF THE ROUTE. This will help facilitate snow plowing and removal on Snow Emergency Streets.

According to the National Weather Service and local news forecasts, possible snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches could fall beginning Monday night continuing into Tuesday morning.

This announcement is being issued to remind the community that any vehicles parked on designated snow routes during the Snow Emergency WILL BE TICKETED.

SNOWFALL AMOUNTS AND TIME SPAN PREDICTIONS ARE TAKEN FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND LOCAL WEATHER FORECASTS.

The City of Monmouth is alerting Monmouth residents that a SNOW EMERGENCY will be in effect for 10PM SUNDAY MARCH 15, 2026 UNTIL 8AM MONDAY MARCH 16, 2026. ANY VEHICLES PARKED ON A “SNOW EMERGENCY” ROUTE NEED TO BE MOVED OFF THE ROUTE. This will help facilitate snow plowing and removal on Snow Emergency Streets.

According to the National Weather Service and local news forecasts, possible snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches could fall beginning Sunday night continuing into Monday morning. This snow event will be accompanied by high winds blowing up to 40 to 50 MPH and blowing snow. The National Weather Service currently has Monmouth in a BLIZZARD WARNING until 10AM Monday.

This announcement is being issued to remind the community that any vehicles parked on designated snow routes during the Snow Emergency WILL BE TICKETED.

ANY VEHICLES PARKED ON A “SNOW EMERGENCY” ROUTE NEED TO BE MOVED OFF THE ROUTE. This will help facilitate snow plowing and the removal of snow, on Snow Emergency Streets.

According to the National Weather Service and local news forecasts, possible snow accumulations of 4 plus inches of snow could fall. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for a clipper system that will approach the area late tonight bringing snowfall through mid-afternoon Saturday. The snow and colder temps will create slick travel Saturday.

At approximately 10:00 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025, the Monmouth Police Department responded to a reported active incident at Monmouth College. Monmouth Police Dispatch Center received a phone call from an unknown individual claiming that an active incident was occurring.
Monmouth Police officers along with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police arrived quickly on scene, secured the area and began an investigation. No active incident was found to be happening. There is no known threat to the campus at this time.
The incident is still under investigation as a case of swatting. Swatting is the act of falsely reporting an emergency to provoke a law enforcement response where no actual threat exists.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Monmouth Police Department at 309-734-8383. Anonymous tips may be submitted through the Warren County Crime Stoppers at 309-734-9363.
Monmouth Police Department was assisted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, the Illinois State Police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department during the incident.
