A huge thank you to all of the community volunteers and participants that came together for this year's Black History Month Celebration on February 18th. We were supplied with amazing food, knowledge, and lived experiences told through the lens of a beautiful recipe passed down for many generations. What an incredible evening of sharing and community.

On Valentine's Day, we were able to deliver 179 handmade hearts and handwritten notes to the residents of Heron Pointe Senior Living, Independence Health and Rehabilitation, and Blue Haven Memory Care - Independence. We hope that each resident that received a gift from our volunteers felt all the love that this great community has to share. ❤️ A big thank you to our Sunshine Club, student volunteers, MLK Day of Service volunteers, and the Connecting Loose Threads for Charity group for helping make this happen.

ROAR! Start off the New Year by joining the Central Lions Club of Monmouth-Independence for our annual Free Community Breakfast! Thursday, January1, from 8:30-10:30 am at the Monmouth Senior Community Center, 180 S Warren Street, Monmouth. Food, Coffee, Community, Entertainment!

The Monmouth Senior Community Center collaborated with the Western Oregon University Gerontology class Social Ties and Aging again this year for students to conduct Life Review Interviews with older adults in the community. This partnership provides a rich intergenerational social experience for all participants and can help challenge misconceptions of aging. We are so grateful for our partnership with the WOU students and faculty who work alongside us in their program.
