Many nurses assume their employer's malpractice coverage fully protects them. In reality, employer policies are designed to protect the organization first.

Professional liability insurance can help provide:
• Protection for your nursing license
• Independent legal representation
• Coverage for volunteer activities and side practice
• Support during board investigations
• Additional protection beyond employer coverage

Your license is your livelihood. That's why many nurses choose to carry their own professional liability coverage.

As a Wisconsin Nurses Association member, you have access to professional liability insurance options through NSO.

Access to advanced nursing education matters.

ANA and national nursing organizations are challenging a federal rule that would significantly reduce student loan access for many nurses pursuing graduate education. Legislation has also been introduced in Congress to restore professional degree status for post-baccalaureate nursing programs and protect access to federal loan support.

A nurse’s care leaves a lasting impact.

The Nightingale Tribute offers a meaningful way to honor nurses who have passed, recognizing their service, compassion, and contributions to the profession. The tribute includes a special service and poem that may be adapted to reflect the nurse being remembered.

Families, colleagues, and friends may also submit a nurse’s name for recognition or make a memorial donation to the Nurses Foundation of Wisconsin, supporting nursing education, research, and nursing’s impact on health care.

Learn more about the Nightingale Tribute:

The Nightingale Tribute was developed by the Kansas Nursing Association in 2003 for recently departed nurses. The following document contains the instructions for the beautiful service along with a poem, “She/He Was There.” It is encouraged to adapt the service and wording of the poem to fit the...
