City of Monongahela The City of Monongahela is located approximately 17 miles southeast of the City of Pittsburgh along the west bank of the Monongahela River.

The City of Monongahela is classified as a City of the Third Class in the State of Pennsylvania. We are a community rich in history.

From the glowing Sturgeon Moon to the iconic Harvest Moon and the autumn Hunter's Moon, the sky is putting on a show.

🐟 August 28 — The Sturgeon Moon
This moon is traditionally named after the giant sturgeon fish caught during this month.

🌾 September 26 — The Harvest Moon
As the famous first full moon of fall, it lights the way for traditional late-summer harvesting.

🏹 October 26 — The Hunter’s Moon
It signals the time to prepare for winter, historically aiding hunters tracking game through cleared fields.
