It is with heavy heart that we had to say goodbye to "Little White Guy" this evening. He's been with us since the beginning of our homesteading adventure. He was a little old chickie man with one of the cutest little crows. He and Napoleon would call and answer each other for hours. And if I mimicked his crow...he would do the same for me. I love this little fluffy feathered footed guy. And I hope he loved his life at the . He was one best roosties I could have asked for. Rest well, lovie. 😪💔

As we mentioned earlier...our new girls just started to lay.
But all of a sudden we were back down to one egg a day. What the heck, ladies?! I know you're young...but NOTHING. For a whole week?
Then I went to fill the feeder...and what do I find?! EGGIES!
I'm not even sure how she got in there. Or why. 🤦🏼‍♀️ So now I have to check the feeder everyday.
If anyone has tips on how to get these new girls to lay IN the boxes, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi friends!
It's been a minute since we've posted. But we have some sad news.
A few weeks ago, while we were away for the weekend, a fox got into the chicken run and killed 5 of our beautiful hens. And another passed a few days later from her injuries. I am still not over the devastation. I can't help but think how scared they were and it breaks my heart.
This girl here had some injuries that we are working on healing. But she is a strong girl and, so far, is doing great. So proud of her.
Eggie business has obviously slowed down while we do our best to replenish the flock.
Thanks for your continued support. Will be doing my best to post more often.

From city to country!

Born in NYC. Raised in Allentown. Recently living in suburban Philadelphia. I was always used to a city vibe. So when my husband decided to purchase our home north of the Lehigh Valley, I was a little skeptical. It was SO far away from EVERYTHING! He was taking me to the middle of nowhere! However, I quickly fell in love with our beautiful property, quiet woods, and friendly people. (and it’s really not THAT far away from anything.) This is the home I’ve been searching for my whole life. In March, my husband brought home a handful of chickens to add to our family. Since we had such a large property, we knew we could give them a good home. I grew attached to these silly little birds immediately, and would sit with them every chance I got. Since then, we adopted a few more chickens...and even looking to expand now. Who knew these little dinosaur ancestors could bring such joy to our lives! I eat Meggie’s Eggies every morning, and hope to share this joy with YOU and help you wake up with a smile!
