I hope everyone is enjoying a happy and safe Halloween! 🎃 Here's something that's scary: According to the Snohomish County Auditor 26,251 ballots went out listing the Monroe School District school board positions, but as of October 29th, only 4,009 ballots had been returned. 😱 If yours was one of them - thank you! If not, today is a great day to sign and return your ballot! 🥰 Remember, to be counted your signed ballot must be mailed or dropped in a local ballot box by 8 pm on Tuesday, November 2nd.

Every October, state law requires our schools to include lessons about disability history and the contributions that people with disabilities in our state, nation, and the world have made to our society. For example, many people we already learn about in history classes had mobility, vision and hearing impairments which are rarely mentioned but add important context to their achievements.

The Seattle Special Education PTSA shared these incredible resources for Disabled History Month, including two virtual reading rooms with books, videos, news, and activities for young students and for teens and adults.

Today is Unity Day! Like many people across the country I'll be wearing orange today to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying. Bullying can impact a student’s education, physical and emotional health, and their safety and well-being. Together we can create communities that are kinder, more inclusive and accepting for all students.

Did you know that you don't need any postage to return your ballot in Washington? 📨

To return your ballot by mail, simply drop your ballot in a mailbox; no postage necessary. Mail-in ballots must be in the box before the last pick-up time on Election Day to be postmarked on time.

Ballot drop boxes are also conveniently located throughout the county. They're open 24/7 until 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can find a list and map at the link.

A Super Voter returns their ballots early! Return yours before Election Day.

Our paraeducators, bus drivers, secretaries, custodians, maintenance/grounds, child nutrition, technology, security and other trade and technical support employees are some of the hardest working people in our district. They are passionate about helping our students and go the “extra mile” to make a difference. That is why I am so delighted to be endorsed by the Public School Employees of Washington (PSE).
