Green County Partisan Primary Election Results Reporting Delayed Due to Server Issue

Green County experienced a server issue that impacted the timely reporting of election results following yesterday’s election.

Around 9 PM, the Green County Clerk’s Office became aware of an issue impacting the reporting of unofficial election night results. In working with the county's election equipment vendor, Liberty Vote, it was determined that the County’s server equipment and results reporting program were not properly communicating with one another. As a result, transmitted results were contained in encrypted files that County staff were unable to access or open for reporting.

Once it was determined that the issue would not be resolved in a timely manner and we would not be able to access the unofficial transmitted results on election night, Green County staff pivoted and began contacting municipal clerks in an effort to manually obtain and load results to the County’s website. As of 11:30 AM local time on 8/12/26, all unofficial results have been received from municipalities and loaded into the reporting system and subsequently the unofficial results with 100% of precincts reporting has been posted to the county’s website: https://www.greencountywi.org/DocumentCenter/View/4488/PARTIAL-UNOFFICIAL-RESULTS--8-11-2026---updated-8-12-2026?bidId=

Green County understands the importance of timely and accurate election results and sincerely apologizes for the delay and any inconveniences this reporting issue may have caused. The County Clerk is committed to ensuring this issue does not occur again and assures voters that the delay in reporting does not indicate a problem with the election itself or the votes cast by Green County voters.

“We take the responsibility of protecting and accurately reporting the votes of Green County voters very seriously,” said Green County Clerk Arianna Voegeli. “Our staff, municipal clerks, and election technology vendor are working diligently to resolve this issue and put contingency steps into place to ensure that this does not happen again in the November General Election.”

Green County Election Results Reporting Delayed Due to Server Issue

Green County continues to experience a server issue that is impacting the reporting of election results following today’s election.

Remaining election results have been successfully transmitted from 16 municipalities to the Green County server. However, Green County has been informed by its election equipment vendor, Liberty Vote, that the County’s server and results reporting program are currently not communicating with one another. As a result, the transmitted results are currently contained in encrypted files that County staff are unable to access or open for reporting.

Green County staff are actively working to resolve the issue and are continuing to contact municipal clerks in an effort to manually obtain and load results this evening. However, a complete set of unofficial election results may not be available until Wednesday, August 12, as municipal clerks bring their physical memory devices to the County Clerk’s Office and results are loaded directly into the County’s election database.

Green County understands the importance of timely election results and sincerely apologizes for the delay and any inconvenience this may cause. The delay in reporting does not indicate a problem with the election itself or the votes cast by Green County voters. Our priority is to ensure that results are accurately reported and properly verified.

Green County will provide updates as additional results become available and will publish the complete unofficial results once they have been successfully loaded and verified.

Green County is experiencing a server issue that is affecting how election results are being reported online. A partial set of results is available and results will be updated as we continue to manually load results into our system for reporting.

Having to manually report results is causing some delays in reporting. There are no issues at polling locations or with counting the ballots. Voting and ballot counting proceeded as normal.

Only one week left 'til Election Day!

The Partisan Primary System was implemented in Wisconsin in 1906, with presidential candidates being added to the system in 1911. With this system, voters are not required to register with a political party to be able to vote in the Partisan Primary. Here are some important things to note about the partisan primary:

📌 Voters should select a party preference before marking their ballot
📌 Voters may only vote within ONE party's primary
📌 If a voter selects a party preference but votes in multiple primaries, only the votes for the party preference the voter selected will be counted. Votes cast for any other party will not be counted.
📌 If a voter does not select a party preference but votes in multiple primaries, no votes will be counted.
📌 Review a sample ballot ahead of time at MyVote.Wi.Gov
📌 Read your ballot instructions carefully! Voters may only receive two replacement ballots if errors are made.

Had a great day of training with municipal clerks and poll workers from around the county ahead of the August 11 primary election! 

We did some hands-on badger book training as well as a few table top exercises to review and strengthen our election knowledge.
