Why must we perform thorough inspections when servicing or inspecting? Because every once in a while, I'll find something like this: a fire alarm power supply in the ceiling needing to be replaced! No one knew it was there. I replaced it with a Firelite power supply and brought it below the ceiling for easy, serviceable access. The point is, mark and tag fire alarm devices on a map to make servicing easier and to ensure records are kept in shape for your yearly fire alarm inspections.

On this service call I had some pesky ants decide to lease out some dry space they found in this fire alarm junction box during some recent storms.

They were not at all happy to hear their lease was up!

While they were occupying the space, the ants managed to set the fire alarm off. 🤣

Remember folks- it's best to have preventative maintenance services included in your yearly annual fire alarm inspection instead of an emergency service call.

Was out on a service call and had a bad duct detector cause a fire alarm system to latch into supervisory. (AKA The duct detector thought there was smoke in the detector head. A false alarm.)

In this case, water was the culprit. It is important when installing duct detectors to make sure insulation is taped up properly so the duct work doesn't sweat around the duct detector (or in this case into it.)
