⚠️ Monrovian Park Closure – Flood Risk

The Fishlake National Forest is closing Monrovian Park, including the picnic area and trailhead, due to the potential for flash flooding from expected rains. Public safety is our top priority, and conditions in the area can change rapidly during monsoonal weather.

The closure is in effect immediately and will remain in place until the flood threat has passed.

Please avoid the area and choose alternative recreation sites until conditions improve. Entering closed areas is prohibited for your safety.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to keep visitors safe.

Dear Monroe Residents,

Governor Spencer Cox has encouraged Utahns to avoid the use of personal fireworks during the Fourth of July and 24th of July celebrations due to extremely dry conditions throughout the state.

Each year, the Monroe City Fire Department and Sevier County Sheriff’s Office respond to several fires caused by fireworks during the days surrounding Independence Day and Pioneer Day. This year, the risk is even greater because of the exceptionally dry conditions in our area.
Monroe City encourages residents and visitors to enjoy the professional fireworks displays on July 4 and on July 24 and consider taking a year off from using personal fireworks. Trained and certified firefighters will be conducting the displays and are prepared to address potential fire hazards associated with the event.

Currently, Monroe City is not banning the use of personal fireworks. However, we urge everyone to carefully consider the risks involved. A single firework can quickly ignite dry vegetation and lead to a devastating fire that threatens homes, property, and lives.

Please remember that individuals who start a fire using personal fireworks may be held financially responsible for the costs associated with suppressing the fire and any resulting damages. These costs can be substantial.

We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to helping keep our community safe during our July celebrations. Together, we can celebrate our nation’s freedom and pioneer heritage while protecting our homes, neighborhoods, and surrounding public lands.
