There have been multiple reports of scam text messages going around that falsely claim to be from the Connecticut DMV. These messages claim you owe money for traffic violations and include a link urging you to pay immediately.

Please be aware- this is a scam.

The DMV does NOT send out text messages to the public.

The link in the message is NOT the official DMV website.

Do not click on the link and do not respond to the message. These texts are designed to trick you into giving up personal or financial information.

If you receive one of these messages, delete it right away.

When in doubt, always go directly to the DMV’s official website.

Stay safe and stay alert!
