Yesterday afternoon around 12pm Kiryas Joel Firedepartment deployed with a brush truck and manpower to assist with the wildfire in greenwood lake. The brush truck and utility responded with 15 members and created a fire line to protect the houses on Cliff as well as assisting with exposure protection. Units went back in service around 10pm.

KJFD was dispatched to 17 Mountain Rd for a smoke investigation. Upon arrival, we had a smoke condition in the basement. Crews stretched a 1-3/4” line into the basement and located the fire in the bathroom inside the walls and ceiling. The fire was quickly extinguished with minimal damage to the structure.

Yesterday at around 3:28PM KJFD was dispatched to a structure fire on Hamburg way, upon arrival, Engine 596 observed heavy smoke pushing from the roof, units attempted an interior attack put were initially pushed back by the immense heat and no visibility conditions in the attic space, after a quick knock on the fire from the outside, units entered for overhaul. All residents and firefighters made it out safe. We would like to thank our mutual aid companies who came out to assist us. Great job by all involved!

At 2:30 this morning KJFD was dispatched to a structure fire on Rimenev Ct upon arrival units reported heavy smoke showing from a commercial school building engine 594 responded as the first engine one line was stretched 30 minutes into the incident fire was knocked down Washingtonville Fire Department responded as the fast team

Around 2:20 in the morning KJFD responded to a possible structure fire on Acres Road
in a multi-story complex
units on scene advised a working fire in the basement two lines stretched one in operation fire was knocked down
with the help from our mutual Aid partners Woodbury Fire Department and Washingtonville Fire Department thank you all it was a great safe

Today, Lt. Paul Butrim, FF Kelsey Sadler & FF Kenny Lacayo lost their lives in service to our city. FF John McMaster remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition. We will continue to pray for the family of those we lost.
