YWAM (Youth With A Mission) - Monroe, WA

I am amazed how many people in Monroe, WA and Snohomish County do not know what YWAM is, where it is or what they do.

It was started in 2001 and completed in 2010.
The Executive Director David Ross and his wife were missionaries to Korea for over 25 years. Love these incredible people!! ❤️⚘️

When they came back they built the YWAM base in Monroe where people from America and around the world come to train in there Discipleship Training School. They are the most incredible missionaries being trained here in Monroe all these years. They house and feed three meals a day to volunteers, staff and students. One of my favorite places in Monroe. Lunch is at Noon!!! LOL.

David and Ellen retired in 2016 and Peter and his wife Hijong Yang from Canada, became Executive Directors. Love them so much.❤️⚘️

Tue nights at 7 they have worship and preaching from local pastors as we as pastores from around the world.

You have to go for a service!!!!! Everyone is always invited. The have 146 hrs of prayer again in Aug. Check their website.

If you haven't prayed at the base....YOU HAVEN' T PRAYED! 🙏

David is almost 90 and is still traveling, ministering, writing books and on fire for God. Since they came back they have been working with Korean diaspora (Diaspora refers to a large group of people who share a cultural and regional origin but are living away from their traditional homeland. worldwide. ) That is praying for freedom for North Korea and the healing of North and South Korea.

There are a large number of Koreans at the base but most speak Korean and English....but that is not their only focuse. Sending missionaries around the world is their goal till Jesus comes!!!

They just recently bought a beautiful house on Main Street where they will be have prayer on Friday nights!!!

If you have never seen the base, or been to the base, go check it out and take a tour and have lunch with them. If you see them in town go say hi and introduce yourself.

It's about time Monroe knew what a gem they have up in the hills!!!!!

Changes at Matthew House

Question: Is Matthew House closing?
Answer: No
Question: Is Matthew House Selling the Building?
Answer: Yes
Question: Why after 45 years of service are you selling the property?
Answer: Built in 1912, with the changing times and economy it is no longer cost effective to put money into a facility that is over 100 years old. We feel instead of putting so much money into the upkeep of such an old building it is being better stewards of Gods money to sell the property and the money go directly to assist families.

To our friends and supporters,

As you might have heard, Matthew House will soon be closing its doors to the public. I’ve had the honor of being the Executive Director for over two decades, and the memories I’ve made along the way will continue to last a lifetime. Matthew House was built in 1912, and with the changing times, unfortunately, the cost of upkeep for the building is too much for us to manage. So, we’re saying goodbye to our little home.

However, this doesn’t mean that the job is finished. It is my mission, given by God, to help the families of inmates, and that is what I intend to continue doing until I no longer can. As of right now, I’m in search of an office space to work out of, where I can continue to provide aid and resources to these families. If there are any organizations or churches that have an available office space, please let me know and I will be in contact. Matthew House has been a safe space for many people throughout the years, and it wouldn’t be right to completely take that away from them.
With that being said, we’ll need your help. We’ll be taking monetary donations of which will go directly towards assisting our prison families. Whether that be for sleeping accommodations, or providing families with food and clothing, your donations will make it possible, just as they have for many years. To donate, please visit https://matthewhousemonroe.org/donations/

Matthew House may be selling the building, but we are not closing the ministry. Our heart and passion will remain the same. It is the heart of Matthew House to help prison families. I hope that you will continue to walk alongside us on this new journey.

Prison Family Children....

Message Body:

Hi,

We at Imagine Children's Museum in Everett wanted to make sure you knew about our Dream Big program. Dream Big provides free playtime at the museum the second Sunday of each month for children of incarcerated parents. This program is for children ages 1-12 (parents, siblings, kinship caregivers too!).

9AM-11AM is dedicated special time for children and families affected by a close family member who is currently incarcerated. During that time no other families are present in our North side allowing you to enjoy the museum and play together with other like families. At 11AM we open to regular attendees allowing you to stay and enjoy the museum until 4PM if you so desire.

Registration is required.

You can do that on our website:
www.imaginecm.org/programs-camps-events/dreambig/

You can contact me if you need any further assistance or information.

Sincerely,

Susan Putman, educator Imagine Children's Museum

Whether at the Museum or through our Museum on-the-Go programs, our professional educators provide an exciting, hands-on learning experience for all children.

Volunteers are best! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

For over two decades, we at Matthew House have had the honor of being a part of the lives of hundreds of prison families. We’ve seen the same children that we saw take their first steps as babies go into their first year of elementary school. Daughters graduate high school, then college, and then find their soulmates. Sons start families of their own and break the cycle of imprisonment that for so long loomed over them. We’ve even watched girlfriends and wives put their families back together again while their partners get rehabilitated back into society.

AND JUST AS THESE FAMILIES COME AND GO, SO DO OUR VOLUNTEERS.
Throughout the years, we’ve had thousands of people come to Matthew House with the hope of volunteering. It’s because of them that we as a nonprofit have been able to see as much success as we have. Volunteers are the backbone of many organizations, especially nonprofits like ours.

We’ve had people show up by the van load to volunteer and clean Matthew House for us; one of these groups eventually becoming regulars. A volunteer we had would come several times a week to wash all the bedding from our apartments upstairs, which are in use by women and their children who are visiting a loved one in prison. Another volunteer of ours would spend hours a day going through and organizing each donation that we received, including hundreds of clothes.

Holiday seasons are especially popular for volunteering as they’re our busiest times of the year. For Thanksgiving, people come and put together baskets filled with treats and Thanksgiving dinner staples. At Christmas, gifts are donated then put into dozens of categories and arranged for children and teenagers. When Easter rolls around, volunteers line up specially curated Easter baskets so that they’re ready for the taking. So much of what goes on is possible because of what our volunteers do behind the scenes. It’s because of this that we make it a point to show them how much we appreciate them.

If anyone deserves recognition for the work they do, it’s volunteers. And there are many ways you can do so. At Matthew House, we like to show this appreciation by raving about our volunteers in our newsletters to our donors, or by recognizing them on our social media pages. Often times, people forget just how important feeling appreciated is. How will you show yours?

Valentines Day?
Do you know why we celebrate Valentine’s Day?

Today it is mainly so that we can tell people that we care about them, give and receive cards, and enjoy chocolate and candy.
But according to history, St. Valentine’s Day is meant for people to remember a brave man, a martyr whose name was Valentine.

The Story of St. Valentine

The Roman Emperor Claudius II was fighting many wars. He wanted a strong army, but many men did not want to be soldiers. Claudius thought the men wanted to stay home to be with their wives and children instead of leaving to fight wars.

Claudius thought of an awful solution to his problem. He decided to cancel all marriages! No one in all of Rome could get married. Claudius thought that if the men couldn’t get married, the men would ignore the women and want to be soldiers.

Valentine, who was a priest, believed that people needed to get married. He thought that if they were not married, they would be tempted to sin by living together without being married. So he secretly and illegally married couples anyway! He performed the weddings in secret places, so the Roman soldiers would not find out.

But they did find out. Valentine was arrested and brought before the Emperor. The Emperor thought Valentine was a well spoken and wise young man, and encouraged him to stop being a Christian and become a loyal Roman. Valentine would not deny his beliefs, and he refused. He was sent to prison until he could be executed.

According to history, Valentine actually sent the first "valentine" greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl—who may have been his jailor's daughter—who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed "From your Valentine," an expression that is still in use today. . While he was in prison, he sent out other letters to his friends and asked to be prayed for by writing “Remember your Valentine.”

Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and, most importantly, romantic figure. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France.

Valentine was killed on the 14th or the 24th of February in the year 269 or 270. We celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th in honor of St. Valentine.
