Last night's comments about Michelle Obama at the UFC event were disgusting, vile, and deeply insulting.
As a woman, a mother, and as Chair of the Union County Democratic Party, I am beyond tired of watching successful, intelligent, accomplished women be reduced to sexist, racist, and dehumanizing attacks simply because some people disagree with them politically.
Michelle Obama served this country with grace, dignity, and class as First Lady. Whether you agree with her politics or not, she deserves the same basic respect that every person deserves. Instead, a UFC fighter chose to repeat a long-debunked conspiracy theory and a hateful smear that has been used for years to demean and dehumanize her.
This isn't political discourse. It isn't debate. It isn't free speech being "canceled." It's cruelty for the sake of cruelty.
We should be teaching our children that strength comes from character, integrity, and treating others with dignity—not from mocking women, spreading lies, or getting cheap applause from a crowd.
Our country faces real challenges. We deserve leaders and public figures who can have conversations about policy, education, healthcare, jobs, and the future of our communities. Instead, too many people continue to profit from outrage, division, and personal attacks.
We can disagree without dehumanizing each other. We can debate without being cruel. And we can absolutely do better than what was displayed last night.
Michelle Obama deserves better. Women deserve better. America deserves better.

Chair, Union County Democratic Party
*If your political movement requires humiliating women to entertain the crowd, then maybe the problem isn't the women.
