Union County Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the addition of a "Happy to Chat" bench to Cane Creek Park! When someone sits on a bench with one of these signs, it means they are open to talking with others. A simple chat can help someone feel seen and less alone, helping to create a sense of community while boosting mental health.

With a focus on combating social isolation and fostering community, "Happy to Chat" is a national initiative that provides its park benches free of charge to partnering organizations. Union County is proud to be the first community statewide to bring this initiative to North Carolina.

Visit Cane Creek Park today to find a "Happy to Chat" bench and start a conversation. Read more: https://www.unioncountync.gov/Home/Components/News/News/3538/14

Hear from Economic Development Director Ron Mahle on how this year's funding will allow us to continue that proven economic development strategy and make Union County more competitive for industry recruitment, while shifting the tax burden off of local residents.
