Working or playing outdoors? Consider using products that contain permethrin to treat clothing and gear, such as boots, pants, and socks or look for clothing pre-treated with permethrin.
Or put your clothes in the dryer on high heat for 10 minutes! This should kill any ticks you may have brought indoors.

DON’T FORGET : If you find a tick on yourself, you can bring it into the Monroe Health Department for testing! For $5 we will send the tick to the CT Agricultural Experiment Station where they will identify the tick and test it for numerous tick-borne diseases including, but not limited to, Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis.

Celebrating all nurses and their dedication, and compassion in caring for others through, at times, strenuous shifts. We hope you find time to recharge and do activities you enjoy.

She is vital to our department helping to track disease and offering community health services to the Town of Monroe including vaccines, blood pressure, A1-C checks and health education. Save a Life Day with Local Health and Monroe EMS!

Join us on April 8th at 9:30am at the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library- main lobby to learn how to administer Naloxone in response to an opioid overdose. A representative from Monroe EMS will be available and can provide training on Hands-Only CPR. FREE Naloxone Nasal Spray will be provided to participants while supply lasts. No registration needed, *supply is limited.

Monroe Health Department along with local partners from Monroe EMS, the Monroe Senior Center, CERT, staff from Monroe Public Schools and Newtown Health District participated in an Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Training. Thank you to Jacqueline M. Calayag from the Hub for coming to provide the training and Opioid Overdose Prevention Kits!
Monroe Health and Monroe EMS will be hosting another training with the Hub April 9th at 6pm. A copy of the registration flyer is below.
