🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧
John Deere Road (Dirt Road Section)

Tentatively beginning Monday, August 24, 2026, the dirt road section of John Deere Road will be closed from Walton Road to Mountain Creek Church Road due to a culvert replacement project. The road will remain closed until completion of the project. Please plan ahead and use alternate routes!

ROAD CLOSURE:

Just a heads-up for your Wednesday commute: Mt. Paran Church Road (at Lipscomb Rd) will be closed today while crews work on laying a new water main pipeline.

We strongly recommend taking an alternate route if you can to avoid delays!

If you live right in the work zone or absolutely must cross Mt. Paran Rd just let the traffic control team know when you approach. They’ll be happy to lay down temporary metal plates so you can cross safely.

🚧RESURFACING PROJECT - BAY CREEK CHURCH ROAD 🚧

Resurfacing will begin on Bay Creek Church Road between Hwy 78 and Hwy 81 tentatively beginning Monday, July 20, 2026.
Please keep in mind that there will be traffic delays in this area.

What to expect:
🚗 Traffic Delays: Plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
🛑 Pilot Cars & Flaggers: Watch closely for crews directing traffic.

🏆 Big Win for Walton County Infrastructure! 🏆

Walton County Public Works has been awarded the 2026 Georgia Chapter APWA Project of the Year Award in the Transportation (Under $1 Million) category for the Sardis Church Road & Youth Monroe Road Intersection Realignment Project!

The award was proudly accepted by John Allman, Cody Howington, Ray Johnson, and Tyler Pannell at the 2026 APWA Annual Conference in Jekyll Island, Georgia.

🚧 SR 138 Bridge Closure Update 🚧

Crews continue making significant progress on bridge rehabilitation work over Big Flat Creek in Walton County. The roadway is anticipated to reopen Friday morning, and crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to meet that timeline.

We recognize the inconvenience this closure has caused motorists and appreciate your patience as this critical work is completed.

HA5 Roadway Preservation Treatment will be begin tentatively Tuesday, June 30, 2026 through Wednesday, July 1, 2026, weather permitting.

During this time one lane will be closed intermittently until work is completed.
