Overview

The Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning Systems Operator evaluates and communicates critical data about incoming enemy aerial and missile attacks and aerial surveillance by operating, maintaining and managing modern complicated military computers on complex networks, and utilizing sophisticated communications equipment. These Soldiers are responsible for the preparation and deployment of air defense equipment and systems, setup of a unit command post, establishing communication and network interoperability and integrating with Allied, Joint service and other Air Defense units.

The 14H Soldier maintains computer data links and networks that provide early detection and tracking of possible air threats from the earth’s surface to space, providing the units with situational awareness and current air threat data which enable their engagement and destruction by Air Defense units. They also serve as an air defense liaison to other services in all combat environments involving air defense.

Job Duties
•Responsible for the movement, placement, operations and maintenance of air defense and space early warning and command and control systems in various locations and environments
•Perform data connectivity between various networks and communication systems
•Establish network interoperability with Allied, Joint service and other Air Defense units
•Collect, integrate and process tactical battlefield information from multiple users and sensors through a network of Army and Joint-service automated battle command systems
•Provide air and space situational awareness; provide real-time status reporting during combat
•Evaluate tactical electronic intelligence data for intelligence operations in a joint network
•Provide early warning and conduct engagement operations to destroy enemy incoming tactical ballistic missile threats

Motor transport operators are primarily responsible for supervising or operating wheel vehicles to transport personnel and cargo. They are the backbone of the Army’s support and sustainment structure, providing advanced mobility on and off the battlefield.

Job Duties
•Operate all wheel vehicles and equipment over varied terrain and roadways

•Manage load, unload, and safety of personnel being transported

•Oversee and check proper loading and unloading of cargo on vehicles and trailers

•Employ convoy defense techniques

•Identify, correct or report all vehicle deficiencies

•Prepare vehicle for movement/shipment by air, rail or vessel

Geospatial engineers are responsible for using geographic data that supports military and civilian operations for disaster relief and homeland security. They collect, analyze, and distribute geospatial information to represent the terrain and its possible effects.

Overview

The animal care specialist is primarily responsible for the prevention and control of diseases transmitted from animal to man, as well as the comprehensive care for government-owned animals.
Job Duties

- Provide routine daily care for animals in veterinary treatment or research and development facilities

- Perform physical examinations to detect obvious abnormalities and reports findings to veterinarian

- Calculate doses and administers oral and topical medications as directed by the veterinarian

- Assist veterinarian in surgical procedures and perform euthanasia when instructed by veterinarian

Training

Job training for an animal care specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 11 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including practice in animal care.

Overview

Civil Affairs Specialists identify critical requirements needed by local citizens in combat or crisis situations. Civil Affairs Specialists are primarily responsible for researching, coordinating, conducting and participating in the planning and production of civil affairs related documents, while enabling the civil-military operations of the supported commander.

Job Duties
•Help plan U.S. government interagency procedures for national or regional emergencies

•Assist with civil-military planning and support

•Coordinate military resources to support reconstitution or reconstruction activities

•Support national disaster, defense or emergency assistance and response activities

•Foster and maintain dialogue with civilian aid agencies and civilian relief and assistance organizations

Overview

The wheeled vehicle mechanic is primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and associated items, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles.

Job Duties
•Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers and material handling equipment systems

•Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components

•Service automotive electrical systems including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems

•Perform wheeled vehicle recovery operations

A carpentry and masonry specialist is responsible for general heavy carpentry and masonry duties.

Job Duties
•Construct and maintain rigging devices, trusses and other structural assemblies

•Assist in building layout, framing, sheathing, fabrication and roofing structures

•Perform basic carpentry and masonry skills

•Assist in the performance of combat engineer missions

•Construct concrete form work for slabs, walls and columns

Overview

The infantry is the main land combat force and backbone of the Army. They are responsible for defending our country against any threat by land, as well as capturing, destroying and repelling enemy ground forces.

Job Duties
•Perform as a member of a fire team during drills and combat

•Aid in the mobilization of vehicles, troops and weaponry

•Assist in reconnaissance missions

•Process prisoners of war and captured documents

•Use, maintain and store combat weapons (e.g., rifles, machine guns, antitank mines, etc.)
