Monroe County Intermediate School District - Official

Monroe County Intermediate School District - Official What is an ISD? The Monroe County Intermediate School District (MCISD) is the regional educational agency for this portion of the State of Michigan.

The MCISD is comprised of nine constituent public school districts, two charter schools, and 15 non-public schools. Serving as a link between local districts and the Michigan Department of Education, the MCISD connects Monroe County youth -- from birth through age 26 -- with specialized education services and resources in schools and community settings throughout the area. In addition to special e

ducation services provided in students' home districts, the MCISD operates the Monroe County Educational Center for children with complex developmental disabilities, the Monroe County Transition Center for secondary students with disabilities who polish their personal living and employability skills in real-life settings, the Monroe County Hearing Impaired Program which is housed at Ida Public Schools, and Holiday Camp, which is a summer program that offers enrichment and respite activities for students. The MCISD also provides academic programming for students in the juvenile justice system at the Monroe County Youth Center. Additionally, the MCISD collaborates with a wide range of community agencies and service organizations to develop strategies that address school safety, early childhood development and nurturing, substance abuse prevention, and other social issues that affect students, their families and our community at large. The MCISD offers professional development opportunities to educators throughout the year, providing presenters and forums in which teachers, administrators and classroom personnel can explore the best practices and emerging strategies that take learning to the next level of excellence.

Sheriff Troy Goodnough would like to congratulate the 2026 CTE students on their graduation last night. The Sheriff is proud of their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments throughout the program and wish them continued success in your future endeavors.

The CTE - Introduction to Law Enforcement and Public Safety course offered through the Monroe County ISD has been available since the 2023-2024 school year, and this year marked the program’s third graduating class.

The ISD partners with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to provide hands-on training and real-world experiences that prepare students for careers in the public safety workforce.

Students are exposed to many areas of public safety including the legal system, road patrol operations, central dispatch (911) operations, court proceedings, probation, corrections, and a variety of other public safety professions.

Congratulations to the 2026 graduating CTE students!

Project SEARCH Update

We are excited to share some amazing news with all of our managers, mentors, coworkers, and friends at PMRH!
This year marks Year 17 of our partnership with ProMedica, and we are proud to announce that all five of our Project SEARCH interns have secured employment. This achievement brings our overall job placement rate over the past 10 years to an incredible 95%.
This success would not be possible without the dedication, guidance, kindness, and support of our host site and community partners. Your mentorship has helped our interns build confidence, gain valuable skills, and achieve meaningful employment opportunities.

Congratulations to our interns:
• Anna interned with ASU and Dietary and was hired by Sodexo.
• Jenny interned with 2 South Nursing and Dietary Dining and was hired by Simply Julie Catering, working at SMCC.
• Parker interned with 4 North Nursing, Lab, Infusion, and Dietary and was hired by Home Depot (Secor Rd.).
• Seth interned with the ED, Dietary, and ASU and was hired by Home Depot (Alexis Rd.).
• Alie interned with Lab, Infusion, and ASU and was hired by
