General Summary:

Under the supervision of the Community Health and Public Health Preparedness Director, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates the nutrition and education component of Health Department programs. Teaches group education sessions related to nutrition and makes nutrition related presentations to interested groups in the county. Provides nutrition counseling to community residents, prepares nutrition care plans, and serves as a nutrition resource person for departmental staff.

Affiliation: Non-Union/Part Time - $19.27/hr

General Summary:

Under the supervision of Probate Court Judge Frank Arnold, serves as court bailiff. Maintains courtroom security, directs parties to proper areas, and provides general assistance to the Judge by delivering case files, obtaining information, and performing related tasks. Also for all virtual court proceedings: maintains virtual security, decorum of participants and coordinates parties for admission or breakout conferences by maintaining ZOOM and Polycom videoconferencing. In the absence or unavailability of the Judicial Secretary, answers the phone, takes messages, and performs other clerical functions.

Employment Qualifications:

High school graduation or equivalent. Prefer MCOLES certified or retired law enforcement. Experience as law enforcement preferred or military personnel. Prefer ability in PC usage for locating file information, typing for email messages, and coordinating ZOOM videoconferencing for virtual court.

Other Requirements:

Valid LEOSA Certificate and/or Michigan Exempt Concealed Pistol License (CPL).

Must pass annual shooting proficiency.

Ability to receive/pass first aid, CPR, AED, Bloodborne pathogens, fire extinguisher operations training.

Monroe County is looking for a new Deputy Drain Commissioner/Engineer!

Salary Range:
$30.20 To $30.20 Hourly

Department: Drain Commissioner's Office

Affiliation: Non-Union

General Summary:

Under the supervision of the Drain Commissioner, serves as deputy for that official and assists in the supervision of employees under the Drain Commissioner. Oversees the planning and operation of drain projects/maintenance and the enforcement of all relevant laws and regulations under Act 40 of the Public Acts of 1956.

Employment Qualifications:

Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience and education. Possession of a valid Driver's License.

Four years of experience in design, survey, construction and inspection of engineering projects related to drainage matters including two years in a supervisory position or four years of experience in administering the Drain Code, Act 40 of the Public Acts of 1956.

Hello all!

As back-to-school season soon approaches followed by the holiday rush, Monroe County is looking to hire full-time and part-time Public Health Nurses!

The Health Department encompasses the Family Planning (FP), Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), and the clinic.

Employees assigned to the FP/STI will be a part of a rotation where hours will fluctuate on Tuesdays (10am-7pm), Wednesdays (10am-7pm) and Thursdays (8am-5pm).

Alternatively, PHNs can also be placed in the clinic (8am-5pm). Here, they will conduct TB testings, immunizations, and waivers. On the 1st and 3rd Tuesday, the schedule rotates, and PHNs will work 10am-7pm.

The part-time PHNs have similar functions to full-time PHNs, but part-time works 3 days a week.

Some perks of working within the Monroe County Health Department are:
- Monday-Friday schedules with staff that generally leaves on time every shift.
- 12.5 paid holidays
- Occasional, voluntary Saturday events
- Staff will also be allotted one (1) hour lunch breaks
- Employer match 401(A) up to 6% for part-time and full-time
- Union membership for both part-time and full-time employees
