A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 pm tonight through 9 am Wed for portions of Northeast Texas and Northern Louisiana. Temperatures will fall to near freezing late tonight and that could result in some light ice accumulation across bridges and overpasses.

A tornado warning has been issued for Ouachita Parish until 7:45 pm tonight by the National Weather Service in Shreveport. Take shelter immediately. Stay away from windows, doors, and outside walls. Go to an interior bathroom or closet on the lowest floor. If driving move to the closest substantial shelter.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather alert for the ULM Community and all of North Louisiana. A Significant Severe Weather Event continues to look very likely late today through Saturday morning. All severe weather threats will be possible. Damaging winds and tornadoes are of the greatest concern.

Heavy rain also may lead to flash flooding. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for northern parts of the area. This system will strike in the night; please prepare before going to bed and know where to take shelter in a tornado warning. Turn on weather alerts and local weather stations.

**School Closure Wednesday, April 13**

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts severe weather to reach Ouachita Parish Wednesday afternoon. There are numerous power outages across our Parish.

Since safety is our priority, ULM will be closed Wednesday, April 13, out of an abundance of caution. ULM employees and students will resume their normal work and class schedules on Thursday, April 14.

We encourage our employees and students not to travel during the storm. If you must travel, please take all precautions when driving.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a severe weather threat for all of north Louisiana beginning late Monday afternoon through early Tuesday afternoon.

All severe thunderstorm hazards are possible, including golf-ball-size hail, damaging winds of 70-80 mph, periods of heavy rainfall that could bring flooding, and isolated tornadoes. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The NWS predicts the heaviest rain in the Ouachita Parish area to begin around 7 a.m. Tuesday and begin diminishing in the afternoon.

Know where to take shelter during a tornado warning, and if you must travel, do not drive through flooded areas.

ULM officials are closely monitoring the developing weather and will notify the campus if conditions change.

MONROE, LA – Due to inclement weather, University of Louisiana Monroe classes will go online Friday, Feb. 4.

Employees required to be on campus will be notified by their supervisors. The ULM Library will have regular hours, 7:30-11:30 a.m. The Activity Center opens at 9 a.m. Schulze Dining Hall will operate with regular hours, 7 a.m.-7 p.m., and Starbucks hours are 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The SUB and PODs will be closed.

Human resources will notify employees about appropriate timesheet processing.

Please use caution if driving is necessary because of possible freezing on bridges and roadways.
