One of the most important lessons from exercises like this is that large-scale incidents don’t wait for us to figure things out—they require us to be ready to work together under pressure.
From Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement in the prehospital environment to the teams inside the hospital, effective communication, coordination and trust are critical. That doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from investing in our people, training together and building relationships before the incident occurs.
Tabletop exercises like this help us identify gaps, strengthen partnerships and create the smoothest possible operation when the stress and complexity of a major incident become very real.
Thank you to SSM for hosting this exercise and for your continued commitment to our community and its visitors. Investing in our people is investing in the safety and resilience of our entire community.
Over the last couple weeks, we've teamed up with our local emergency partners for two Cheese Days drills. They were great opportunities to connect, share ideas, and walk through processes to stay prepared for emergencies that may occur in our communities, especially during events like this!
